Keep them to 5 runs and hope you score more -- would be my strategy. They love to steal bases...139-158 SB attempts. I believe the Sycs catcher is pretty good at throwing guys out, so this will be an interesting part of the game to watch.
Pitching looks like TCU's only weakness...if we can call it that. How dialed in will the trio of Fenlong, Jachec and Miller be in their starts? They were not extended in the Regional and will have plenty of rest.
Rotation Horned Frogs used in the Regional - Kole Klecker 4.04 ERA, Sam Stoutenborough 4.31, and Cam Brown 5.25
I am sure they would love to have a some Pom Pom Mom's in the crowd this weekend.
Of course, Miller would be long relief after they win the first game. If you have to use Miller long relief, there are other options that might be better. Dunno -- ERA is tricky with college ball since the walk rate is much higher. Definitely going to be a challenge to keep the walk rate down, as TCU will turn many of those into doubles with their stolen base rate. (almost 3 per game) -- Dang, cannot believe I am this invested in the Sycs winning after they talked smack about PomPomMom...lol

I suspect the pom pom moms were a touch annoying but this is about teams now, not disturbed fans who claim it's private-school drunks who ruined their right to be buttheads and insult players in front of their parents. Trash talk is better served in silence. I got news for the Sick fans who want to go to FtW this weekend -- the TCU fans will be largely a lot more annoying than two or three UE mothers who drove in from St. Louis every weekend to see their sons on a ball field. To that end, the UE program actually benefits if the Treestumps win -- alleging it elevates the Valley's image. But remembering, DBU was in the Valley for a number of years. I suspect the TCU people are up to speed on it.

The TV schedule for this weekend. These are all Eastern times. I think I saw where ESPN+ was also going to do feed on this. If I am to interpret the rules correctly, the Sickies should be the home team since they are the higher seed. Then I think they flop on it. I mean, it's not the team's fault they had to go to Texas.
Fort Worth Super Regional No. 14 Indiana State vs. TCU

Magill is pretty impressive behind the plate. TCU has thrived on the SB this year, but not today.

ISU did everything right except score enough runs to win.

I don't get ESPNU, but I was able to watch on ESPN2 yesterday. Hopefully it will be on both channels again.

I don't get ESPNU, but I was able to watch on ESPN2 yesterday. Hopefully it will be on both channels again. All games today are showing on ESPN+ today. Most are also showing on either ESPN or ESPNU as well. If you go to the ESPN link I posted on page 2 of this thread and click scores in the top right it will show the games today and what channel they are on. Most games are at 2 and 5 pm today with one at 1:15 pm and one at 8 pm. Virginia and Duke are playing now.

ISU eliminated by TCU minutes ago 6-4. They fought hard and represented the MVC well.
And to think that we played ISU pretty tough. So we’re not too far off hopefully from getting back into the postseason tournament again.
TCU and Florida have punched their tickets to Omaha with six spots left.

TCU is like most of the P6 programs -- it takes them a month or so to get their system organized. What I saw was a classic example of a program that spends way more money than the Valley does. The Frogs are currently on a different level.

The what-ifs and more importantly sting and fall out from the absolute blundering of the ISU administration on punting the hosting of these games will go on for quite some time. There is a lot of interesting reading on their board, and a lot of rightfully pissed off people in Terre Haute. The Frogs may be on a different level, but we as the MVC had a chance to even that level up a bit, and the administration at ISU completely blew it.
I knew there was a supposed conflict with Special Olympics, but apparently that was overblown. Bob Warn was not in use for the Special Olympics. The only logical concern was hotels. Who cares? Those that would travel from Texas and elsewhere really wouldn't have much problem retreating to Greencastle or even the western burbs of Indianapolis after a game. Getting around DFW can take much longer than a trip up I-70 to Plainfield.
IMO, President Curtis and the AD both need to go. It appears it was her final call, but the AD should have been vocally backing his baseball team and instead, did nothing. According to their posters, she still lives in Chicago most of the time, which doesn't allow her to endear herself to the campus or community. Mike Ellis, who is probably the best known attorney in Terre Haute, took a very public swipe at her on facebook, demanding her resignation over this.
It makes you really appreciate Pres. P and Ziggy. I don't say that condescendingly. We have seen the disastrous effects an out of touch administration can have. I have no doubt had we been in a similar position with Spencer, Jennings and others in the last 20 years, we would have found ways to blow it as well. Leadership matters and those players, coaches, ISU fans and Terre Haute deserve much better than what was given to them this week.

Thanks to all the contributors that brought us up to speed on the NCAA baseball tournament. I'll wish all the teams the best at the world series Unfortunately my favorite team can only hope for next year. I hope I'm here to witness it.

I suppose an academic leadership isn't inclined to discuss the what-ifs of sport, as in ... what if our team is really good? Seems like the admin had the foresight to ask for permission to host the conference tournament and knew fairly early on they'd be a top or No. 2 seed. So the next thing was, what if they win something?
That aside, the Sicks ran into a buzz saw of an opponent and it was a couple of really great games. Hoping they all learn from this. I doubt the ISU people will be called upon to do anything their press release didn't cover. So if we are expecting some fallout to cost the prez and AD any credibility, most likely not. The fans won't show any kindness and that probably is enough for them.
