Just thought it would be nice to have a general recruiting thread where we can post info about players with active offers or recruiting in general. Saw a young lady post on Twitter that we had extended an offer so to my knowledge that is our new staffs first public offer.
Simone is a 2022 5'11 wing She recently picked up offers from us, butler, Cleveland st, and FIU (coaches last stop) and previously held offers from SLU and ISU, although the sycamores have a new staff too. I'd say we should be in the mix!

There is very little information to compare most of these girls, since there is far more disparity in high school girls basketball. If they are playing summer AAU, that competition is more balanced but there would be very little in the way of stats that matter. I suppose a 5-11 girl who is being recruited is enough to start with.
I saw last week that the Illinois all-state teams were announced and I think the kids who didn't make the list probably didn't outnumber the ones who did. I just looked at it and tried to determine where they were from, assuming better competition in some areas.
I guess the idea that she is actively recruiting would be a good sign. Well, having an actual team would be a good sign.

generally you can find some film on hudl or YouTube if you like, but as a general rule... outside of the espnw top 100 and ProspectNation database, the best indicator of a players level is what offers they currently hold. Coverage of hs wbb recruits is at least a hundred times better than it was 10 years ago but you still have to know where to look

If you look around you can find some good information on her. She’s a 5-11 guard with speed and quickness who can score. Last winter as a Junior she had 989 career points for a Class 4-A team ranked #6 at the time in the Chicago area. Not too shabby. With a full senior year she could move up to #2 and pass Jenni Dant who played professionally in Europe.
Simone was recruited by our new HC while in Florida, so I think she could be our first new Women’s Ace.

I found some film from her freshman year and her game reminded me alot of aniah--fast, strong, long, maybe a little out of control at times..but as I said this was her freshman year, I'm sure her game is more polished at this point. I imagine if she likes this girl she will love aniahs game but who knows

I found her freshman video too, but I decided she was too young then to tell me much about her game today. I would love to see what she did last winter.
For the sake of the Women’s Basketball program that Coach R S-W can walk the walk because she can certainly talk the talk. The women certainly need to taste some success.

I am wondering -- if you have 6 scholarships and are rebuilding (or building) do you send out 100 letters hoping to get 6 that are on your short list?
How long is a short list? Are you willing to accept the first ones who come along? Why would you invite somebody you don't want, even if 'damned near anybody is better than what we have'? What if all of them say yes? What if all of them say no? If you have 6 players on scholarship and practically everybody you recruit is better, what then? Can't yank their scholarship just because they aren't good players.
This isn't as easy for R SW as we might think it is. It's likely that she already knows at least a couple of players who will say yes. I should hope the girls within 150 miles of UE are perking up their ears right now, knowing there's at least some people who are starting to buzz about this.
But I hope they are planning to step and and try to win right away, rather than plod along with continued rebuilding. I said they need to TRY to win right away. Not getting that done is acceptable.
Seems like this program needs to walk before it can run, and I will be largely curious to see how this plays out. In the past, I didn't care a whit for it.

There’s a really good girl less than an hour’s drive from Evansville who might slip through the cracks. Her name is Rebekah Gordon who is a senior at Heritage Hills. She committed to sign with Auburn but a coaching change there caused her to reconsider. Just a few days ago she committed to Central Michigan.
Rebekah is a 6-1 power forward who averaged about 19 ppg and 8 rpg while making 50% of her FGs and 38% from 3-point range. She is a legitimate D-I player. Could she join Sisley and both become Aces next year? I’m sure Coach R S-W is quite aware of her.

Are you suggesting that she might decommit (again)? Twitter commitment

As long as a kid hasn’t signed a LOI, we have a shot. I hope R-SW can get her to reconsider her choice and come to UE.

That was my point. Maybe Rebekah would liked to play closer to home after the Auburn commitment came unraveled with the firing of their HC. Nothing wrong with Central Michigan but if the new hire at Evansville produces a competitive program in the Valley she might have made a different decision. Her family and friends will be able to see her play at UE home games and that might be important to all concerned. I’m not saying she should have picked UE over Auburn, but it’s a good second choice.
Just look at the transfer portal in men’s basketball and see that almost 1500 have decided to look elsewhere to continue their college experience. If Rebekah has any reservations about her commitment to Central Michigan I hope she considers Evansville.

Saw that coach RSW is now following kendall wingler on twitter, assuming she is actively pursuing her..fingers crossed. She is a crafty scorer and super tough. Probably getting my hopes up too much! haha.
