How long do you think it will take to announce the new coach? That’s a good question. To me, the longer it takes, the less likely it is an internal hire (Tyra Buss).

As long as it took for Spencer to finally pull the plug on Ruffing, I would like to think he had a pretty good idea of who he wanted to replace him with. Maybe he has to wait until the D-2 Finals are over at the Ford Center to interview the beer lady behind 115?

Could be Trya has informed UE she isn't interested in being a head coach yet.We all know that the UE job can't be very appealing considering our history the last 10 years

If they were going with an internal hire, or somebody local, they would have made that announcement by now.
I think a lot of the women's programs across the country are going to be re-booted.

Things seem awfully quiet on the replacement. Shouldn't we be hearing some type of update, or even a possible replacement list besides a few social media fans clamoring for Tyra?

You figure there would be some type of a announcement on the progress of hiring a new coach.

You figure there would be some type of a announcement on the progress of hiring a new coach. I've never seen a school make an announcement of the progress of hiring a coach. Just a press conference when they have. Maybe I'm off but that doesn't seem common place. And trust me, maybe the first time I've ever stuck up for this athletic department.

In a normal year I would be a little concerned that a new Women’s coach hasn’t been hired being so close to the start of the signing period, but that has been extended out to August. I also assume that transfers will occur without penalty just like on the Men’s side but I have not seen any transfer portal information on the Women’s side.
With that being said, the Universities are already making a lot of changes in Men’s coaches and the rebuilding or solidifying of their teams has begun. What does concern me is that with an announcement of a new Women’s coach there may be a lack of quality Women’s applicants. If that is the case then the hole in the Women’s basketball program at UE might be getting deeper. Quality demands money and I question whether UE will meet that need.

I only saw the last few minutes of the IU-Arizona game last night, but I thought I saw Tyra there. It wouldn't surprise me, and maybe they needed to wait until the ladies tournament was over.

Did the IU men's program wait until the men's tournament was over to announce the hiring of Mike Woodson? Doubt that's the case but I could be wrong.

This lack of a replacement for Ruffing boggles the mind. First, when you KNOW the existing coach isn’t the right person, you reach out to 2-3 candidates BEFORE you let Ruffing go. MAYBE, Spencer is waiting on an assistant from IU, NC St, or Louisville to digest their season, then sign on to UE! NAH........IMHO, that’s not the reason. Maybe he thinks Tyra is too young, and he’s hoping that he can attract someone with more experience, recruiting ability, and charisma! NAH......
So, what IS the hold up? If Tyra were offered, it shouldn’t take her this long to decide.
All good D1 ADs have a note card in their pocket with the first 3-4 people they’d contact to fill a HC vacancy, or they should have. Maybe UE is that undesirable a job? NAH....again, just IMHO, we have an AD without a strategy, and I believe he needs to go, so we can get someone with a plan for the future.

I wouldn't panic yet. It has just been 17 days and there has been a tournament going on. Hopefully it will be a good hire and well thought out. Note: As long as it is not McCarty I hope we give the new hire a chance to turn this program around.

The process for women's ball is a little different and there are some other things going on relative to that and how changes or legal fights are playing out. What that has to do with UE is likely that the coach they want is still involved in the tournament. Another 10 days won't matter. Another month would suggest something.
Saying the program isn't desirable is a non-starter. There are hundreds of qualified coaches who would take a D-1 job if offered. The problem is in deciding what you want from the program at first, in the medium run and in the long term. Right now, they just need players.
