He plays on the best aau team in the state. Look at the team he plays on and who has recruited kids on this team. He is a starter for this AAU team. Players are recruited mostly on potential. Sometimes kids who play down peak early and don’t get better. I don’t know this kid, but it could be part of the explanation. They may not believe he’s going to continue to get better. He may not pass the look test either. Those are real things in recruiting. Do you know how many kids are older than kids in graduation class? You only know his age cause it’s a local kid. This is going on all over the country. It’s not a big deal.

I wish him well,I just don't think he is a top mid major player, and it shows based on his recruiting. Now if he wants to play for UE that much maybe he could be a walk on. We can revisit this conversation at a later date. I would suggest watching the kid play in person before deciding if he is a "top mid major player” or not. Michael Day had only offer to play at Evansville. So, you probably assume he will not be a good player for us.... Remember that some of our best players in recent years had very few offers. Schools understand that if you offer a kid, you are making them known. On the other hand, if UE does not offer him 1st, schools like Ball State/Miami (OH)/etc. will start pouncing eventually. Judging by other offers isn’t necessarily telling the full story. There is a game played by some that will heavily recruit a player, but won’t officially extend an offer they are willing to verify with Verbal Commits or allow a player to tweet because they don’t want to be “used” to get offers. They tell the player, an offer is here if you are ready to commit and expect them to commit to accepting before “officially” offering. Lickliter did this and that’s why we didn’t look like we offered many players only to have someone commit we didn’t know about. He’s not the only one who takes this approach. Recruits essentially get unofficial offers until the point of a verbal commit. Other coaches offer dozens of players a year with only 3 spots to fill, and it’s like an exploding offer to get them to commit quickly. Those offers are also sometimes done as favors to an AAU coach to get a guy’s recruiting started or elevated. They are ghosted as soon as they receive them. You also have a whole group of current players and recruits with unusual circumstances with lack of exposure, pulled offers or near offers that were impacted by COVID. The casual fan has no idea how crazy that time was. High school players are still working against the college roster log jam from the extra COVID year and transfer rule changes occurring in the same year. In summary, judging by other offers is both unfair and potentially very misleading. Coaches who look at other offers before offering are considered lazy and lacking a good eye for talent by their peers, but it still happens a lot. Those aren’t coaches you want on your staff. I trust Ragland, especially on a local kid.

I don’t know this kid at all. I’m just throwing out potential explanations of why we haven’t offered based upon other posts. I have no opinion one way or another about him.

Isn’t he also in USI’s backyard and they haven’t offered either? Sure is. But this isn’t a USI message board. Don’t care who the recruit or offer.

Here are four guys on his AAU team, and just a reminder. He starts on this team. He will get offers and UE could miss out.
Do some research on these players and what offers they have and where they are committed to
Raleigh Burgess Travis Perry Cooper Koch Flory Bidunga
What school he plays at in high school doesn’t matter one bit. All the recruitment is done over AAU ball.
