Agreed. As someone old school I don’t have to like it either.

This kid could start for UE now. Rags won’t offer and he is in own backyard. He can score, he is physical, he is a winner and wants to go to UE. Asst coaches want to offer but Rags won’t pull trigger.

Has to be better than what we have. You have inside knowledge of this?

He was offered by UE back in October 2021 which was confirmed at the bottom of page one of this thread. Not sure how or if the coaching change affected the offer.
This was confirmed in this December 2021 retweet on his account:
Sounds like you are saying that UE’s new coaching staff (especially Rags) is holding out on officially endorsing that offer. If so, I’m sure there are valid reasons- other possibilities, too early to see how things shake out, want more height, etc. Got to trust this staff as lots of hard decisions and this kid is in the ‘24 John Bol class.

How many other D1 schools have offered. His biggest problem is he is attending a school that doesn't play tough competition.

So if he has played well on his AAU team then other schools would have been making offers. As far as I know UE is the only D1 school to make a offer and as far as I know USI hasn't offered.

Look at the team he plays on and who has recruited kids on this team. He is a starter for this AAU team. Players are recruited mostly on potential. Sometimes kids who play down peak early and don’t get better. I don’t know this kid, but it could be part of the explanation. They may not believe he’s going to continue to get better. He may not pass the look test either. Those are real things in recruiting.

Has to be better than what we have. You have inside knowledge of this? Definitely doesn’t have to be better than we have. Every player on our roster was a stud in high school. They are all competitors and helped their teams win or even carried their small schools on their back to once in a generation type of success.

I wish him well,I just don't think he is a top mid major player, and it shows based on his recruiting. Now if he wants to play for UE that much maybe he could be a walk on.

We can revisit this conversation at a later date. I would suggest watching the kid play in person before deciding if he is a "top mid major player” or not. Michael Day had only offer to play at Evansville. So, you probably assume he will not be a good player for us.... Remember that some of our best players in recent years had very few offers. Schools understand that if you offer a kid, you are making them known. On the other hand, if UE does not offer him 1st, schools like Ball State/Miami (OH)/etc. will start pouncing eventually.

How many D1 schools did Colt Ryan have offering him? That is one of the most over used saying that makes no sense. How many of you wanted Powell to come to UE just because he was at Houston? There are people on staff that do think he is worthy. Unfortunately, not the one that matters so far.
