Is this a full scholarship, or preferred walk-on? Doesn’t specify, and the fact that it doesn’t specify makes me think he’s a PWO The newspaper story said he was on 3/4 scholarship. He said he pays one year (maybe FR year?) and USI covers the remaining 3.

Scholarships are only year to year agreements. Weird they didn’t just offer him one this year if they think he can play. They’ve got plenty of openings and no other recruits coming in currently.

I wonder if they plan to redshirt him. Maybe it has to do with his grades.

Nothing to do with grades.

I was surprised that we apparently showed little or no interest in Josiah. Based on his Christian background he seemed like the type of person Rags liked on his teams. Maybe having Tyler Myers from Day School already on the team as a WO had something to do with Josiah’s recruitment. Myers was a prolific scorer too. I think that if UE had offered he would be an Ace.

I think you likely hit it on the head. There are only so many spots on the team and we brought in a lot of walk-ons last year. Furthermore, we are looking for an experienced point guard (I would guess) to bring in, as we already have Kaia coming in as a freshman PG. It probably was just a numbers game and based on the teams needs why an offer was not extended (would be my guess). I'm sure they feel that they can bring in a scholarship PG this year that can provide an immediate impact for this team and he likely would have only been considered for a walk-on spot (but was there room to bring another walk-on in). Not sure but I trust the coaching staff.
