I appreciate the input re: Givance. We obviously have our own opinions on this matter. I simply don't see much of a future @ PG for him. He's pre-occupied w/ dribbling rather than passing and consumes valuable play development time. His poor shooting % is a real liability, allowing the opposing "D" to drop low & double team. P-Whiskers laughed when I drew comparison w/ last year's Shea Feehan. Let's slow down here, and compare the #'s: Feehan (1 yr.) www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/shea-feehan-1.htmlGivance (2 yr.) www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/shamar-givance-1.htmlFrankly, I'm not seeing the necessary improvements in Givance's game over the 1 1/2 seasons thus far which are necessary as a PG to improve the quality of Aces play. Wednesday night in TH, you'll see an ISU backcourt that most think is "collectively," one of the top 3 in the MVC (if not the best). Let's see how Givance stacks up...

Shamar is a great player and a player that adapts to his game day situation Samari Curtis enrolled at UE for the spring semester. He was Mr. Basketball in Ohio last year. He had committed to Xavier (Chris Mack left), then Cincinnati (Mark Cronin left), then decided on Nebraska. He was unhappy at Nebraska and now he is a Purple Ace!

The main reason why these two really cant be compared is that they are asked to do completely different activities on the court. Feehan wasn’t a PG, and Shamar isn’t a shooting guard. Anyone can complain about player performance, and maybe rightfully so; but comparison of these two players is disingenuous in my opinion.

Ya,I thought about this, but then at just 2 assists a game, what exactly is the role of the 5'10" Givens (other than bringing the ball up the court)? When the defense ignores a player because of their lack of offensive production (assists or scoring), they become a liability and allow the opposition to overplay & double team on "D." Not to mention his size matchup problems inside w/ larger guards. Also, most NCAA teams are now going w/ 6'4"+ guards on the perimeter, for 3-pt. "D" because of LENGTH and pressure (shooting over).
Personally, if I was recruiting a PG, I'd be looking in HS basketball hot spots where the game is programmed, highly valued & taught. Toronto...is the capital of ICE HOCKEY. As far as Givance, he has virtually no foreseeability as far as play development/matchups. This can't be developed overnight.
McCarty must've thought he was the reincarnation of Nate "Tiny" Archibald when he signed him.

Every NBA scouting department disagrees with you on this topic, as 25% of the league now comes from places outside the US where they certifiably are not “hot spots”. His AAU program was essentially a pro camp for 3 years. It was a prep school on steroids. It’s incredibly high level. In either event, the two players are only comparable in the fact that they walked the same paths to classes.

Sorry, but the MVC is not AAU or NBA...considerably more structure, especially DEFENSE. Have you noticed UE's MVC position when "D" stats. have been published the past two (2) seasons?
Re: your 25% NBA foreigner claim, that must infer that 75% originate from the USA?

I vote for Shamar too. I think he should get more minutes and maybe his scoring production improves.

I hate to break up the party, but we have gotten quite far from the title of the thread. Perhaps start another one solely about the merits and detriments of Shamar?

It's looking like a real possibility this recruiting class all heads to Evansville for next season and wow.. if that happens this is one really good class.
