No matter the end result, I am interested to see how everyone feels recruiting will be effected by all of this. Will we keep current recruits, will future recruiting be hurt?

I think that will depend on how the season goes, if we are train wreck and then a new coach is brought in with new assistants, I say they are gone along with some of our current players. If McCarty is cleared or if he is canned and we have a successful season, I think we will keep most.

At the present time there is little or no effect on recruiting since our scholarships for next year are committed. That would change if any of the three recruits rescind their commitments. However, this needs to be resolved quickly and our coaching staff stabilized whether McCarty stays or goes.
Next November will be critical. As it stands I believe we will have six open positions then to fill for the 2021-22 season assuming no transfers or early graduations. We must have a strong, stable coaching staff to recruit the quality of athletes needed to move this program forward. Whether McCarty is part of that staff is not as important as to who is here to overcome the adversity we currently have and convince recruits and their families that UE is the best place for them.
We definitely need someone who can attract the players who have the talent and aspirations to make UE stronger. Without McCarty we cannot sell a pathway to professional sports as easy with him. There are coaches who can provide that but would they come to UE. That brings me to Coach Seltzer. Before last August I had never heard of him. I’m sure he is a fine assistant coach but would we hire him as our Head Coach before last week? I don’t know but we may find out soon.
Tomorrow we will find out how the team responds. Without McCarty the next two months will tell us the capabilities of our coaching staff. My hope is that the team will continue improving and show us how good they can be as they have teased us they can be really good. More important they can take our focus away from the bench and on the court where it belongs. I really like the young men who make up the ACES and they can make all of us proud to be ACES Fans.

I agree with this

As I stated in another thread, I just don't see us retaining any of our verbally committed recruits. If the Aces play unbelievably well and lift the "interm" tag from Coach Benny S. then maybe, but certainly no guarantee if the recruit was just about McCarty. I could not expect any of them to wait till March till the team names the new coach. I don't see the Evansville program not releasing Johnathan DeJurnet from his LOI if he decided he no longer wants to come here. Hope I am dead wrong.

If Walter is released, I think it's going to be very hard to keep the recruits.

Remember Roman Silva Jr who McCarty was recruiting? He’s playing for Oregon State. That boy is huge at 7’1” 265 pounds. Man, he could’ve been a very good Center for us.

Current stats for OSU:
2.6. ppg 1.7. rpg
At 7-1 265 he’s not exactly tearing up the PAC-12

Well, he’s the backup C to the league leading 7’0” shot blocker. I just saw him play 4-5 minutes in the first half against Arizona and had 3 rebounds, a block, an altered shot, and a couple man-sized screens. He would’ve looked great in the post as DeAndre’s complementary big. Sure is a lot better that several of our bigs...

Thanks for the tip TN Ace. What's going on? Strange he would commit without know who the coach will be. Could this mean McCarty is coming back?

How does a recruit commit when no one knows who the coach will be?

Well... This is confusing to say the least. That would make 4 commits with 2 spots. But, coming out of HS just last year, ESPN had Samari as a 4 star recruit and he nearly cracked the top 100 in 247sports. Held offers from Xavier, Virginia Tech, and had committed to Cincinnati before ending up at Nebraska.
