There are at least three issues here. (Well, actually a lot more than that.) One is Samari coming to UE. I would guess the fact that we had an open scholarship for spring semester played into his coming here. I'm sure it was already a done deal but then Walter was suspended before classes started and before an announcement was made. A separate issue is the anouncement by UE. If this is the first day of class, I believe that UE had to wait until he was an enrolled student to make the announcement, since there was no LOI. And Samari waited until today as well. It seems notable that given the current turmoil, he did not back out. Once someone is signed and on campus, the coach can then make comments (somebody correct me if I'm wrong), so it will be interesting to see if Coach Seltzer makes a statement about Samari or if there is a general press release from the Athletic Department. Presumably he can start practicing with the team immediately.
Then there is the whole issue of the surplus number of players and recruits for next season. We probably won't learn anything about that for awhile. Of course, we are all starved for information on the coaching situation as well as these other questions. There is now an announcement at www.gopurpleaces.com.

As much as I love a good conspiracy theory, there's nothing to see here. Samari enrolled in classes far before all this drama with Coach McCarty came out. As for Trey Hall I have no idea what's going on with him, but Samari is as much a victim of circumstance as DeAndre, Art, and Sam are.

So ... just wondering ... with the announcement of extra recruits planning to be on the team next year, could it be that some current team members were told their positions on the team would be taken, thus causing their total lack of effort since the Murray game?? Or could it be that Art, John and Sam, as 2020 graduates, are all planning to move on?
I sure can't figure any of this out. It makes no sense.

Since everyone wants to throw around theories, and what they think will happen, I figure I’ll put one out there. What if, the investigation has been over for a week now, and the University believed that it was a suspendible offense, but not a terminal event, so instead of announcing said suspension to the public, they leave him on “administrative leave” (same thing as a suspension anyways) while “the investigation continues”. He stays on leave the number of games of his suspension, and returns after. No muss, no fuss, and since they are a private University, they do not have to disclose anything to us.
Seems legit, and I think that is what is happening.

Givance should be one of the 1st given his walking papers in the UE backcourt. He can't shoot a lick from outside, see the floor(matchups)or distribute, over dribbles into traffic, et al. He's also a major defensive liability due to his size. Simply not cut for UE/MVC hoop. Reminds me of the of the Div III phenom that McCarty gambled on last season.

Not cool to speculate on current players.

Seems legit, and I think that is what is happening. What good does suspending him do, though? There were no NCAA violations that would dictate an official suspension, and I doubt very much whether the UE Title IX policy proscribes a certain amount of games for a certain type of offense. If Walter crossed a line, or if he's put a toe across it too often and the university doesn't see anything changing, he's gone. If they determine the offense was minor enough that he can continue coaching, everybody is going to want him back as quickly as possible. Who possibly benefits from the Powers That Be telling Coach, "hey, we're cool, but you have to wait two more games"?

Not cool to speculate on current players. I agree with you 100% on player speculation okie. Anyone currently on the roster should be off limits. In addition as for any of our commits, hold your comments unless they are positive.

He is the last of the returning guards that I would want to see leave. Sorry but I disagree 100%

In addition as for any of our commits, hold your comments unless they are positive. What is the purpose of this forum if we are not allowed to talk about the current players/recruits? Obviously I refer only to reasonable discussion, not profanity laced tirades and things of that ilk. But we should be able to talk about what we like, what we don't like, and what we would like to happen in the future. None of us are from the future (except Sir PurpleWhiskers), but speculating on the future and whether or not players are returning should 100% be fair game. I will be more than a little upset if the moderators decide comments like the one about Shamar above have no place here.

Not trying to speculate on players, but when I was told a few weeks ago that we had a transfer coming from a big 10 school I said why do we have four players coming in, I was told by this reliable source we will have several leaving.

Per 40 minutes played or 100 possessions played Shamar leads the team in steals, fewest turnovers, assists, and assist to turnover ratio. In fact, in overall games played he leads all MVC players in assist to turnover ratio at 3.6. He is a 71% FT shooter and a better 3-pt shooter than Sam, Noah and Evan. His height does bring down his overall FG% but give him credit for fearlessly taking it right to the bigs on occasion. Mr Whiskers is a huge fan of Shamar. Further, the turmoil hasn't slowed Shamar, he still leaves it all on the floor. He is as close as the team has to a leader. AND, he is nothing at all like Shea Feehan. Not. Even. A. Little. Bit.
