Recent alumni (< 10 years) of St. Louis make $20k more a year than the recent alumni if ISU. Enrollment may be similar, but income is greater.

I doubt they can guarantee anything like Big East. They had market and money 10 years ago and got passed over by schools like Butler and Creighton.
I am in Louisville listening to Valvano's show today. He keeps saying Schwartz is/was the front runner but apparently this MOA with SLU is a major roadblock. He is also claiming Schwartz told him he really wants to come to Louisville. If he is stuck going to SLU, it is entirely his fault.

Maybe it’s lip service, maybe it isn’t, but for Schertz to sign anything before a contract is signed about a buyout is incredibly stupid on his part. He should have waited, or jumped, but I think he was afraid to step on his buddy’s toes and chose STL.

I doubt he had any indication he was going to be seriously considered for a job like Louisville when he signed the MOU. Trilly Donovan said he was a done deal to SLU well over a week ago. It was looking like May would be Louisvilles guy then and the other P6 jobs weren’t expressing much interest in him. I still think SLUs a great career move for him and it will likely catapult him into the next big opening in a year or two. When he wins the A10 in year one, he will still be in very high demand next year. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him be Woodsons successor.

Supposedly, Schertz turned down both Louisville and FAU jobs.

Supposedly, Schertz turned down both Louisville and FAU jobs. I don’t believe that for a second. I think they’re just leaking that to make ISU fans feel like he’d rather stay with them than go to Louisville. He’s already got a deal in place with a multimillion dollar buyout that Louisville didn’t want to pay according to the rumors.

How big can the ISU buyout be on a yearly contract valued at 350k? Did he sign an extension last year?
