Crews won here but couldn't with all those extra resources they supposedly have on the rest of the A-10?. Jim Crews is SLUs Todd Lickliter. The guy that was young and hungry and won a lot in Evansville isn’t close to the same coach that he was at SLU. I don’t think its fair to use Crews to justify SLU not being a top midmajor program.

I agree that a lot of coaches, like all the rest of us in life -- are looking at the other side to see what's there. But we also don't hear about the ones who have landed in a comfort zone and never even wonder about changing jobs.
The continuity thing for the sake of recruiting is kind of an old-fashioned concept moving forward. If elevating an assistant coach makes sense, it's only because the assistants at the top programs are already making more than the head coach at most mid-majors. To that end, I think we will keep seeing a carousel of coaches who are looking for lateral success, and reasons for that could be as simple as just not liking where they told him to park.
I still wonder how many women are going to get HC jobs in mid-majors -- and soon. They will work for less and expectations are ... pffffft ... 3 years and she's moving on anyhow. They will work for less because they don't have a resume and universities will say, "yeah, but you're blazing a trail!"
As for Louisville, that's going to be the best job in the country for a newcomer -- and the most stressful. There have to be some seriously rich alumni who wonder how it got to that point.
Yeah, the A-10 probably envisioned itself as headed toward a "P-7" level, but sorry ... Rhode Island just ain't gonna do that for you. That aside, I wish the Aces had a regular rotation with some of those teams.

Looks like Devries will have his choice of schools this offseason too.
Could be a massive void at the top of the MVC next season. Hopefully we can retain our talented players and bring in some more to fill that void

I wonder how Ryan Pedon and Illinois State fans feel about that? Maybe that situation in the Norfolk State/Illinois State game was resolved.

I wonder how Ryan Pedon and Illinois State fans feel about that? Maybe that situation in the Norfolk State/Illinois State game was resolved. The issue was investigated, but I wouldn’t say it was resolved. Aces44 is right that they’ll hate each other from day 1. I’ve seen plenty of Illinois state fans complaining online already. If you’re unfamiliar with the issue/resolution, a Norfolk State player accused an Illinois State fan of calling them a racial slur during the game. It caused a big scene during the game with Pedon going irate on the player and referees (he didn’t know the player had just been called a slur). Pedon was forced to apologize and issue a statement afterwards saying he didn’t know what was going on. He got a ton of criticism afterwards. Illinois State conducted an investigation into the incident and interviewed over 40 different people that were sitting close to the incident, referees, players, etc and no one besides the player heard a racial slur. Norfolks coach was pretty critical of Illinois states staff and fans after the incident, but offered no apologies when the incident was found to be made up, so Illinois State fans hate the guy already.

If the reason Redbird State dislikes this guy is because of a complaint over a racial slur, it will probably get a lot uglier than that when the actual competition starts. I am not saying Jones or Norfolk was right or wrong, but there are always consequences for rattling the opponent's cage.

Aces Alert: Ben Humrichous has left the Aces team and will not be traveling with the team to Florida to play in the CBI. I have heard the same thing today, he is still rehabbing his injury and getting ready to test NBA draft waters. He is not entering the portal, so there is a chance he could be back with the aces next year.

I see the NIT is using the NBA lane width 16 feet. It is going to matter if they change that rule.

I think the story with Ben is a bit more nuanced, and to say he "left the Aces team" may not best way to describe his situation. Remember, the only reason he could come back is because of the Covid extra year. So for a guy who got his degree last year in Mathematics with a 3.93gpa and currently working on his Masters in Leadership, he probably is at the point where he is ready to test the NBA waters.
We all know he has been playing hurt -- and to me it makes sense to give his body a rest before prepping for the NBA draft. Dang, we should be glad to have a player of his caliber. So why can't we just root for him and if the NBA doesn't work out, hope he comes back to UE and gives us one more year.

I guess kids don't have to attend class anymore Masters of leadership is an online degree. Ben was the MVC scholar athlete of the year. I’m sure he is still attending every single class while rehabbing.
