I agree Dean - Bailey is a scorer and needs to keep that mentality. He will force some shots, make some turnovers, etc but he is already a top 3 player on this team and one of the best freshmen in the conference. I want him to attack the rim, show he can score from the midrange, and keep shooting 3's. Let's face it, who else on the team can score, handle the ball, and defend at his level?
To those saying he is a ball hog, who do you want to see with the ball in his hands to keep this team in the game? Bobe, Kalle, Haffner, Strawbridge, Thomas, Hughes?
Toumi can dominate at times when he's hot from the perimeter, but he's mediocre if that mid range shot is not falling Humrichous can dominate when he's healthy, but he's not Cuff can dominate when teams allow him to back into the post against smaller guards, but most good teams are starting to double him or putting a big on him when he posts
Jackson - who knows, the kid never gets a chance to play

To me - there's really three things that are hurting us.
1. Obvious - Big Ben being out. That takes away our best defensive rim protector, best offensive player, best shooter, and best decision maker. Impossible to replace and we are in a world of hurt until he comes back.
2. Hughes. Ever since that nose injury he hasn't been the same. I don't know if that was worse than what was thought or what, but he has not been right since that happened. It could also be he is hitting the "freshman wall." We need him to bounce back because he was a big factor to the success early in the year.
3. Guard play/Shooting. We have to get Haffner to put the numbers he put up at Eastern. We need him to be a 40% three point shooter and a 50% shooter in the mid range. Tall ask, but for this team to have success he has to do it. For one we need to screen more to get him looks. Also Jackson needs to be good enough to displace Bobe from the rotation and Bailey and Thomas need to look to dish off when they get inside more as this will open up their driving game more.
Get those things to happen and I still think we can win some games in the MVC and be a lot better than we look right now. From what I've seen those have been the biggest problems. Toumi and Strawbridge are what they are. They will help you when they aren't the primary options and aren't forcing things. But when things try to run too much through them it leads to trouble. When we were having success the ball was moving, guys were cutting, and we were looking to make the extra pass to get the right matchup. In this bad stretch it's been too much one on one and stagnant play.
My two cents - will go back to the corner now

The MVC has not been kind to the Aces in 25 years, why would it be any different this year? we are just slightly a tick better than last years 12th place finish, can you say 10th or 11th?

I know there were games when he took 20-25 shots. Shooters gotta shoot!

I noticed he's been fumbling a lot of passes that are near his head which caused him to miss shots he would normally make.

Good take Servo. Leaving out the trip to Iowa, we have 5 upcoming games that are all winnable -- and will answer if "aceslfr" is correct in stating we are a 10/11th team in the MVC. Win 4 of 5 and we could be mid-pack MVC with a 6/7/8/9th MVC tourney seed on the line coming into the homestretch.

Bailey is not a team player, when he is the game everyone stands around and watches him play one on one. Bailey is fine he needs to start taking games over with Ben out. Our Seniors are not going to do it. Hopefully we can get Jackson some playing time and start building for next season.

UE keeps us in the DARK! Why is that? We pay for the tickets, we have the right to know what is going on. Do we really think our struggles should be hidden from opposing teams? Wake up, that is not relevant. Change it up coach, the seniors will be getting their real dose of "LIFE" next year when they look for work or playing overseas. The REAL WORLD you rarely get what you want and that's LIFE. It saddens me that the guys that show the most promise are subs after the Hole is dug. You know I mean Chuck and Tanner, start them then see how Strawbridge and Thomas play coming off the pine. I rarely post as I chuckle with the brains at this forum post daily. Finally, why does B. Jackson not play. Give him a CHANCE coach, the players he would put on the bench make mistakes too, just my opinion............GO ACES!!!!!!!! NGU (Never Give Up!) In the Bradley game, Tanner and Chuck combined for 52 minutes. They aren't exactly rotting on the bench. I know next to nothing about B. Jackson. Maybe he's a turnover machine in practice. Maybe he misses assignments. Maybe this. Maybe that.
