When I moved to Cookeville, TN back in 1979 the women's program was far more successful and drew better than the men's team at Tennessee Tech. The games were all women and men doubleheaders. My season tickets got me into both games. It was a good idea back then and I think certainly plausible today. It makes business sense .... cost effective. The MVC likely doesn't see it that way. The television contract also comes into play. At this point the women's program needs to piggyback the men imho.
Let's get a coach hired!

I'm sure scheduling is a nightmare

The ovc does them easily in much smaller venues with less seats. They also have a very similar espn deal. It always seemed to get students to the game earlier so they could cheer on the wbb team. I also believe that some schools with low attendance have had reward programs for students that attend games..such as adding dollars onto their food spending accounts ect. Another thing is to have clearly marked seatbacks for season ticket holder seats so that wbb fans know that they need to vacate those seats before the men game starts. Perhaps it isn't going to be possible off the jump, but very doable if they look to other schools that execute them successfully. Just offering it as a suggestion because both teams could use an increase in attendance

Probably one of the largest venues in the OVC.

Mainly, there isn't a real good reason to play very many women's games at the Ford -- there is a reason to promote it at the Ford for special occasions ... this is about recruiting.
If you have a reason to sell season tickets, you buy the ticket. If there are 2 game scheduled that night, you get a bonus game for the same money. Having to 'vacate' a seat because you bought a ticket for a women's game that is played ahead of a men's game -- why would they sell you that ticket?
They don't want you to leave the arena.
Seriously, there are lots of ways to achieve this but the notion that this is some kind of handicap is bizarre. You figure out a way to get fans in the seats, which is maybe how you upgrade the women's program.
That, in turn, appeals to sponsors who will consider dumping more money into advertising, which is a money maker for the city and the university. I am scratching my head about how one game might run over into the other one and how the people who are squatting in my precious chair have to get up and move.
The men's and women's DH arrangement is not being done very many places and I only see it in D-3 games. It would seem that taking both teams on the same bus would cut costs, but it's not like that hasn't been discussed.
If the people who run a university are such boiled Luddites, then the proof is in the record so far. Stop looking for reasons to complain after you failed to drive a square peg into a round hole. You want your programs to succeed, you think of a way of making it work. Good ideas, to this side. Excuses for failing, on the other side.

UE has an app for students to “check in” at sporting events. Prizes are awarded to those with the most points. They have give aways at games - free chips and salsa from whichever restaurant is willing to donate, UE branded items (not only t-shirts), drawings for big items such as an iPad. To try to increase attendance at MBB in the past they’ve given each student who shows up Turoni’s bucks, Papa John’s bucks, even $5 cash. Even those incentives didn’t much influence anyone to attend. If they want to be there they will no matter what. UE has also had shuttle bus transport to and from the Ford for MBB altho I thought the pick up times were wonky.

Again I have no inside information on who the new women's head coach will be. However, I stumbled on this article and video from three months ago where Tyra said one day she wants to be a head coach: Tyra Buss Begins New Career

I saw a report on AP earlier today on the Girls All-State teams being named in Illinois. No point posting the report here since it's just names without details. But there are a lot of players on it.

If Wells was able to win at Roosevelt, she must think UE is the Xanadu of sports.

Sounds like a winner to me. After what we've gone through the last 6 years, she has to be better than the cluster **** we had then, IF she is the one.
