Lindskog reports changes in staff. Seltzer and TC out. No replacements named yet. Sounds like he knows who he wants though.

If I were to guess, I think we should hear who the replacements are soon. I wish the very best for Selzer and TC and feel assured they will land new positions soon.

Could be a while on an announcement for any hires. I think UE is on a hiring freeze and salary reductions until the end of June or July. TL may have hiring agreements in principal but he cannot issue contracts for signing especially with guaranteed salaries.
If I were a potential assistant coach I would not want my hiring disclosed until I signed a contract. Too many things can happen that could affect a signing to disclose early. I expect we will know something by mid-summer. They can’t recruit now anyway.

That is not correct - coaches can recruit by phone, email, texting, etc. They can also watch as much film and review recruiting profiles all day and night. They just cannot have face to face contact on or off campus right now.

I don’t want to push this, but aren’t they in a “dead period” right now? That would be no contact if I remember correctly. Anyway, if UE is not ready to sign a contract committing a salary due to their own administrative constraints then we probably won’t hear anything for a while.

This is from ncsasports.org
The most restrictive of all the recruiting periods is the NCAA Dead Period. During the dead period, coaches may not have any in-person contact with recruits and/or their parents. In other words, coaches are not allowed to talk to recruits at their college campus, the athlete’s school, an athletic camp or even the grocery store.
While the term “dead period” makes it seem like all recruiting stops during this time, that’s actually not the case. Athletes and coaches are still allowed to communicate via phone, email, social media and other digital communication channels. Take a look at our NCAA recruiting rules to learn more about the different ways athletes and coaches can communicate. The goal of the NCAA Dead Period is to give athletes a little bit of time and breathing room to think about what school they want to sign with.

I agree with others that Marcus Wilson would be an excellent addition to the staff! I think it would be a tremendous advantage to have someone on staff who has competed at a high level for UE and in the MVC, has the work ethic and desire, has developed a wide range of basketball connections, and who wants to see his alma mater succeed.
I don't think it is fair to compare Marcus to Marty. Marcus is his own man. I think we would be fortunate to have him join us.

I wonder if the delay on who the new coaches will be has anything to do with saving money. For example, we don’t even know if we are going to have a season at this point. Delaying hiring new coaches would be an easy way to save money in the short-term. Thoughts?

David Padgett appears to be taking another career path as a Financial Advisor. 247sports.com/college/louisville/Article/Details-on-former-Louisville-coach-David-Padgetts-career-change-148995117/As for delaying as a cost-cutting measure, I would hope not. Yes, the season and nearly everything is uncertain at this point...but..it is imperative Lickliter gets his team in place. There are a lot of responsibilities that the assistants carry out, especially in recruiting and player development. Throw in the fact the turmoil of last season, and the fact Lickliter isn't a long-term prospect, it becomes essential. Assistants are in place across the MVC, we can't afford to sit and wait.
