Need someone w/ experience developing players IN THE PAINT. Guards are a "dime a dozen" in college ball, but as mid-major, you're rarely going to recruit anything above a 2-star, thus the need to "develop." I've seen numerous "big men" journey thru the doors of ISU/Terre Haute over the years, with half LEAVING because they have a HC whose focus is perimeter-based & he has no ability to nurture the skill set needed for successful team balance INSIDE.
Btw, David Padgett would be a great hire as an Asst. filling the role described above:
Frankly, I think he'd love living in E-ville!
As far as recruiting, big men wanna play for a coach that KNOWS what he's talking about and has BEEN in their shoes. They don't care to hear a pitch from a 5'10" Asst who played G and has NO IDEA what it takes to get the job done inside.

Keep Logan, bring in Padgett AND Ragland. Don’t hold back. I agree with castle69, but I sense that Ragland would be better from a recruiting standpoint than Padgett.

For those screeching about wanting Ragland as an assistant, I say just stop it already. The man has no loyalty, and that will not change if he is brought on staff here. He would be in the seat with one eye out the door to his next job. I don’t want that, and you shouldn’t either.
I personally hope that TL brings in someone that nobody knows who they are if he brings in new assistant coaches.

Re: Ragland, here are his ISU big man stats. during his four (4) seasons (2010-14) in Terre Haute. They're listed in order of "most" to "least" productive: Justin Gant 6'9" 240 126 games: 7.5 PPG/3.5 REB - 4 yrs.
R.J. Mahurin 6'9" 225 97 " : 7.2 " /2.7 " - 3 yrs.
Miles Walker 6'8" 250 67 " : 7.1 " /5.0 " - 2 yrs.
Isiah Martin 6'8" 210 113 " : 4.0 " /2.7 " - 4 yrs.
Jake Kitchell 6'10" 230 124 " : 3.6 "/2.9 " - 4 yrs.
T. J. Bell 6'8" 250 72 " : 3.9 "/2.5 " - 4 yrs.
Demetrius Moore 6'7" 230 34 " : 3.4 "/2.5 " - 2 yrs.
As you can see, ISU "big men" did not flourish while Ragland was Lansing's Asstant 2010-14. You can draw your own conclusions as to "Why." For this reason, I'm NOT confident that Ragland has the ability to DEVELOP Aces big men if he were hired as an Assistant .

I'm wanting Coach Lick to bring back Matt Graves and Marcus Wilson as his Assistant Coaches. I wouldnt be against getting David Ragland either, if he's interested.

I'm assuming Graves is still special asst to head coach at Xavier. His family remained here thru this school year but have their house for sale. Had he stayed under Walter wonder if he'd be head coach right now. Doubt if they could pay to lure him back from X.

Link to tweet. Pretty vague at this point. If that is the case we need two replacements.

Interesting. 🤔 I could support Graves and Ragland. I can also support either of those two with Marcus Wilson.
