I like Craig Snow also. D1 assistant, some head coaching at lower level (D2?), former Ace, appears to have calm coaching demeanor, and understands fan engagement and expectations.

Can the Aces just get rid of Lickliter entirely instead?

I honestly like Baumann and I think Issac McGlone will be back and he could be good. Pretty much 100% sure Seltzer and Commodore will be gone. I don't see them fitting into what Lick wants to do and at this point it would be pretty awkward for Seltzer to stay after how disastrous that was. I agree with Ventura - he needs to look at the Butler tree. I'd get a young guy and someone who is a little older and has some experience. That would give him three young guys (McGlone - DOBO, Baumann, New Young Assistant, Older Assistant). That would be my preference. I'm not opposed to Wilson either or someone like Craig Snow. I do think it is good to have a former player on the staff. How about Graves and Wilson? (Of course, there are infinite names out there I am not even aware of.) However, Graves could be the coach in waiting and Wilson I think would be hungry to work for his alma mater. So each would have something to prove. Ragland as well would be a good choice. (I think letsgoaces already said what I am posting. So I second what he already said.) I would definitely be good with those two

Hasn't seen it mentioned but Geoff Alexander maybe the right candidate for the position. I know he is @ a B1G schoolbut it could be the opportunity to return to the Aces and be in line for Lickliter's position if he retires.
Just a thought I could be wrong Day 10 isolation

I think with the announcements in the last couple days of 2 more players leaving it becomes very important for Lickliter to choose and announce his new assistant(s). It could be huge as far as recruiting for the prospect(s) to know who their coaches are going to be and who knows maybe who he hires might bring a good player with him or have an inroad to a prospect. I know it is not how UE has done things but it needs to be announced who if anyone(coach) is not coming back.

I guess a new assistant coach will not be Stan Gouard. He was just named the Head Coach at USI.

Maybe it’s time to offer David Ragland the Asst Coach job

Have any officially left? I know we are all speculating, but does anyone know if one or more assistants have left?

Ragland is my pick, if we’ll open the purse to get him. The Gouard move at USI may just be a tip as to a potential move to D1. I know he’s a USI guy, but Gouard was making a very nice salary at UINDY. I know the word is that USI’s pres. is lukewarm about D1, but the new arena, then Gouard’s hiring, plus the issues at UE might add up to an opportunity to elevate the athletic program. UE needs to go all in, NOW, if they want to be a relevant D1 program.
If nothing else, the hire shows a big commitment to b-ball at USI....and it’s likely to enhance the USI fan base, at the expense of UE.

I would add this to one of your sentences above - UE needs to go all in, NOW, if they want to be a relevant D1 program...in Evansville. If USI goes D1 in the OVC and catches some steam, winning the regular season (NIT appearance at least) or the conference tourney (NCAA appearance), USI would be THE division 1 team in town. Forget the history, it will be "What have you done for me lately?" Many more folks in the area have graduated from or attended USI than UE and these people would follow "their" university over UE. A competitive D1 USI team would draw well in their new arena and have a livelier student section at games than you currently find at Ford Center. The OVC tourney was previously held in Nashville where Belmont is located, no reason it couldn't continue at the Ford Center if USI was a member. Imagine a weekend where Murray State plays USI for the OVC championship in the Ford Center (record capacity, no tarps) and UE loses another Thursday night game...again...in St Louis. The time is NOW.

If Seltzer comes back I would be completely stunned. The rest might be back - but I don't see any way that he comes back. I've been wrong many times before - but I just don't see him coming back after how everything went down. I think this is another case of UE trying to keep things under wraps until they have a replacement named, which is dumb but some things never change.

Whether assts. have left or not is irrelevant. You find the right guy, and you make room for him....whatever moves are required

I can see a assistant leaving only if Graves would come back.

Agree with all that the time is now. I think USI is teetering on it, and probably just playing a poker face for now.
If you look at what we know as facts.
On the surface, UIndy and USI are lateral positions. Same conference, etc. Gourard has been at UIndy 12 seasons as a coach, plus a few more as an assistant. He is not from Evansville. I realize he played here, but he is from Danville, IL. Danville is a lot closer to Indy than here, not to mention he has spent a lot more time living in Indy than he ever spent here. Throw in a family, and lateral moves just don't happen.
We know the OVC admins have toured the new arena at least twice while they were in town.
The endowment at USI is considerably higher than many D1 programs, including their former parent, Indiana State.
This hire is a bold statement from USI. Not only because he is a legendary player, but he has been very successful at UIndy. I seriously doubt UIndy just let him go without a counter offer.
I'm all for it. I think there is room for two here, we just have to make sure our house is in order. Extending poor performing coaches isn't what I have in mind.
