The only good news is that everyone in the league will have turnover of their best players. It will be a case of whoever can cobble together a decent recruiting class will be in the top of the league. And the next year the whole merry-go-round starts again.

I always liked Marcus, listening to him on ESPN disect a game as it's being played. But it's to the point that he doesn't give two shots and a giggle about UE basketball and don't $#@%%@& care about him anymore. If he loved UE as he said he does.he wouldn't be chewing on our current players ears on moving on to other schools. And yes I believe he was instrumental on Ben leaving and Chuck will be next.

I’m not blaming anyone; but now that it’s a pro league, I have some decisions to make, and the Pacers don’t ask me to buy tickets and then also donate to the player salaries… I get your point, but the cost of sitting in the lower level of Gainbridge for one game is the same as buying season tickets for UE. The cost of the players salaries is already built into the gate. If everyone was willing to pay Pacers prices for tickets, we’d have more than enough money to retain our players and compete. That’s my point. They tickets should be more expensive to pay for these players salaries, but they aren’t bc the players aren’t worth watching at that price point No one is buying tickets to watch B Hum. Tickets are bought to watch the front of the Jersey. Its a real problem until someone who doesn’t need the ROI steps in to save the day Interesting times…

No shortage of people who will want that job. Rumors are that several coaches, including May and Schertz, turned down the job. No shortage of people who will want that job.

How many of the 10,000 people who fill an arena to watch their "college team" would do that if they knew in advance that the team they were rooting for was officially a pro/semipro team that had no connection to their school?
Thinking about the past, when the old time SIU/KWC/UE players graduated, they all joined these robust teams and played in the Tri-State tournament. They stopped being Salukis or Aces. The 141-128 scores were probably pretty entertaining -- if you wanted to sit in the bleachers in the Armory. Nobody ever accused them of winning one for the Glory of old IU.
Fans continue to believe they are seeing something that comes from their fantasy and they keep hoping the NCAA will allow that to continue. Rules are changing but it's tilted one way -- and the fans are not on the heavy end of it. Trusting the NCAA is like we still continue to trust Bert the Turtle who told us to duck and cover in case the Soviets launched an A-bomb.
We need to stop lying that P4 collegiate teams are anything more than an organized semipro operation. Eventually, they will have to show their books.

He’s so beyond grateful that he’s entering the portal 😂😅. Sorry but these statements by these young college players are ridiculous and hilarious. I liked watching Ben, but he is not an NBA talent. Lifelong G League or overseas career at best.

Someone has been blowing smoke up his rear, he doesn’t have the physicality to compete in tougher competition at this present time. I hope he breaks his leg on his way to get his NIL check…just kidding kinda

What the hell is wrong with the last two posts and posters! BenH came to Evansville hoping to contribute to a transitioning team and far exceeded our expectations. Wish him well and shut the f***k up.

Should've known the Lord told him to hit the portal.

Wish him well and shut the f***k up. Don’t appreciate the language, just wished we had some loyalty, that’s all. You would think someone that was so grateful would do whatever the coaching staff thinks is best for him. Not someone that has money as the motive.

Not to pick on Ben's announcement in particular, but it really is amazing the consistency of thanking your former school, coaches, fans and teammates for having so much faith in you while God nudges you to better things elsewhere. I don't understand the religious aspect of hitting the transfer portal. D1 basketball is just an arms race of cash for coaches, players, agents, handlers. Why should we care anymore? I'm getting ever closer to a state of disconnection.

If anyone reads the MVCFans board, you have to at least smile at what a Bradley fan posted about this:
I'm generally not angry about portal stuff. I get it.
But damn, Evansville took you from a friggin NAIA school, made you better and put you on the map. And, BOOM, gone.
tribecalledquest was the poster. He is typically a pretty insightful guy. I’ll give him credit.
