This is all so frustrating and the new normal. Somebody just make this stop.

And remember a year ago in mid-April when Ben’s signing was announced, people on here were making comments like the following:
“He sounds like a decent player but at the NAIA level - we need better than this!”
I trust the coaching staff to keep assembling this team brick by brick. It certainly will hurt if Ben leaves but he has to do what is right for him. I certainly don’t question his character- he came back hurt but still helped the team. There is still a chance he could come back and I certainly hope that he does. But with the offers that he is likely to get, hard to fathom that he comes back. But Ben is the type of guy that it wouldn’t floor me if he did come back. He certainly needs to explore his options and no one should attack him for that IMO.

I suppose there is nothing wrong with unconditionally trusting the staff on everything they do. As fans, maybe we have no other choice. But sometimes the purple tinted glasses need to come off. Even the best staffs make mistakes. The UE staff makes their share. I like Rags and his assistants, especially Snow. But I would not say I trust them on every single thing they do, whether recruiting, or in game strategy, including, but not limited to, their (non)defense against the 3 point shot.

I’m not blaming anyone; but now that it’s a pro league, I have some decisions to make, and the Pacers don’t ask me to buy tickets and then also donate to the player salaries…

The cost of the players salaries is already built into the gate. If everyone was willing to pay Pacers prices for tickets, we’d have more than enough money to retain our players and compete.

I think Rags has put Ben to rest. The last sentence of the second paragraph says it all.

Tough loss, but they took an NAIA kid with no D1 offers and put him in a position to get NBA attention. That’s gotta help in recruiting even if we never see Ben in the Ford Center again

Ben is gone. Best wishes to him. Now lets see who is next. As one said earlier, college basketball is not what it once was and really stinks when you get someone you like. My thinking is positive....we found one Ben and there are more out there, we just have to find them, and more than one. Bradley lose Hickman and other teams will lose a lot of players as well. Time to move on and look foward to next year as we continue to rebuild.
Go Aces !

Mark my word,if Ben doesn't go the NBA route he will follow DeVries to W. Virginia or Schertz to St.Louis.

I’m to the point that I don’t give two craps about who comes to the program. Loyalty is gone with Gage Bobe and we’ll never be lucky enough to get another player with his level of loyalty. Win , lose doesn’t matter because the NCAA will make sure that the UE’s of the world stay down with no options.

Mark my word,if Ben doesn't go the NBA route he will follow DeVries to W. Virginia or Schertz to St.Louis. Hope not. Although he’d be perfect in Schertz offense. I hope he goes to an in state P6 if he remains in college. Mike Woodson could definitely use his shooting, but I fear he would just sit him in a corner like Miller Kopp.

Time to move on and look foward to next year as we continue to rebuild. It's difficult to rebuild in this new era of college basketball. We just need to reload.

The reason we are sad to see Ben leave is because we know who he is and what he has meant to the team. He will be replaced by somebody who might be as good or better. We don't know that player yet. We also didn't know about Ben when he announced for UE. We move on. Blaming the NCAA is all we have left and that's not about Ben at the moment.
But if Ben is planning to play professionally, he's had enough advice that tells him his endeavor is likely to pay off in some form. Hell, even Art Labinowicz found work in pro basketball. He's not going to re-enter college just so he can play for Indiana State.

Could Rags be a candidate for UL or similar openings? I hope not but his results are impressive. No shortage of people who will want that job. Rumors are that several coaches, including May and Schertz, turned down the job.
