The Aces don't need to win this game, but I'd prefer they be playing Northern Montana Teachers after this long break instead of UC.

Wow, this guy has a project going. I think he's got a great idea. Daunting, however.

The Aces don't need to win this game, but I'd prefer they be playing Northern Montana Teachers after this long break instead of UC. Long breaks go both ways though, and I’m sure Cincy wishes they were playing the bottom 50 team they thought they scheduled for this spot in the offseason. Hopefully our guys come out more motivated and prepared and the long break works to our advantage.

It’s good to see the aces pick up a couple of buy games like Cincy and BYU. While it’s been simply great to see the guys at 10-2, it would be terrific if we could load an extra P5-6 game. Obviously, it would be great if this was Vandy, Butler, SLU, so fans could travel, but any additional buys would increase exposure, not to mention the bucks the program could accrue.
I think we’ll give Cincy a good game. Despite the BYU loss, the Aces have shown resiliency and grit.

Would be a fun trip for fans and a game we could realistically have a chance at winning.

Kenpom has been wrong about the Aces in 7 of their first 12 games. That's a lot of wrong and I don't think he's done being wrong yet. A lot of the value of the minutiae that he tabulates can be wiped out in the first minute of the game by a blind and/or incompetent ref. Two quick fouls on Big Ben would be bad news against any remaining opponent. Every rating service is entertaining fodder. All of them are better over time than a whim or a gut feeling. Still, with that in mind, gamble responsibly. My gut feeling says that the Aces will win or cover the spread. This game is secondary to the Sycamore game but it would get the attention of doubting fans who are yee-hawed over "big name" teams.

I don't expect our guys to shoot 5-29 from 3 like they did in the BYU game and get blown out. I think we'll see a more focused group of Aces. This game is winnable.
A couple of notes from Bearcat Talk...
-Despite playing 6 of their 12 games away from home so far, KenPom has Evansville's non-conference schedule as the 9th weakest in the country. -KenPom also has Evansville rated as the 4th "luckiest" team in the country so far meaning their results have grossly outperformed their metrics.

Here is a 2nd post on the Cincy board from this morning. It offers additional "insight" about our team to their fans ...
"A few more notes on Evansville:
---Despite playing 6 of their 12 games away from home so far, KenPom has Evansville's non-conference schedule as the 9th weakest in the country. ---They've lost their only Q1 game 96-55 at BYU and their only Q2 game 90-78 at Missouri State. They took roughly 44% of their FG attempts from 3 in both games. ---In the BYU game they shot 33% from the field and 17% from 3 (5-29) while only getting to the free throw line 10 times. They did only turn the ball over 7 times. ---Missouri State shot 32 free throws in their game. No other team has made it to the line more than 21 times against them. ---KenPom also has Evansville rated as the 4th "luckiest" team in the country so far meaning their results have grossly outperformed their metrics."
I might add that we didn't play well in Mo. State and BYU games. However, the refs had a LOT to do with that Missouri State game, making some incredibly BAD calls against us. No way Mo. State should have had that many FTs against us. We played well in spurts vs BYU, but let some runs occur to put ourselves in a hole. I think the Aces learned a lot from both games. I think the Aces will be very competitive at Cincinnati. We've continued to make some incredible strides, even over the last few weeks! It could be a statement game for the Aces.

I don't think they should be buy games either. Of the 3, Butler always makes the most sense. Vandy can pretend it needs the non-con it plays. The Billies -- pffffffffffft. I'd add Western Ky to that list but we go over this stuff every year and still end up playing somebody like Lipscomb or Campbell.
