Indiana State cracks the AP top 25. Hopefully they can stay undefeated until they come to us for senior night and we can draw a big crowd and an upset victory I see them at 23 in the AP poll. Pretty impressive for sure. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings

#23 Trees struggling a bit in Terre Haute. They were down by as much as 12 in the first half. Sycs making a little run. 35-27 with a minute plus left in the half.

Well, so much for the #23 ranking. Trees get axed and fall.

Of note in the Valpo meltdown against Misery State. Schweiger is a legitimate player. The Bears are a very physical team that has learned that a foul is a foul and the harder you hit the guy, it's still a foul. "Flagrant" is for teams that swat at a guy as he's going by. Powell outcoached himself with 3 minutes left trying to milk the clock. The Bacons could have won that one.

Looks like the MVC will definitely be a 1 bid league this year.
The Arch Madness Tournament is going to be crazy to predict.
With their overall depth and recently improved play, it sure would be nice to see the Aces make a run in St. Louis.

No Valley team can afford to lose one of its starters in the middle of the season, even for 2 games.

They have a 6-7 man rotation and play their starters 35+ minutes most nights. They’ve got a very talented starting 5 that plays great together, but the second one of them goes down they’re significantly worse. They’re lucky they just lost Jayson Kent (although he is very underrated and their best defender/rebounder) and not Swope or Avila. Every other MVC contender could lose a starter and still beat Illinois State at home.

ISUr forgot that they only shoot 28% from 3. They've only missed one shot the whole game so far.

One positive: ISU-red started 11-12 from the field the first nine minutes. The last eleven minutes they were 5-15. But that still puts them at 59% for the half from the field. We have to play defense at least as good as we did the last eleven minutes to have a chance in this one.

BYU knocks off #11 Baylor 78-71. BYU can pretty much beat anyone when they are making threes like they did tonight (14 made threes). We found that out the hard way. Amazingly that is only good enough to move them into a tie for sixth place in the Big 12. The Big 12 is brutal and has four teams in the top 11 and six in the top 25 and ten teams in the top 39 in the NET rankings.

Sad thing, is that w/ the NIL, a HC will rarely get the opportunity to fully develop his top recruits, as a result of the NCAA "low hanging fruit" principle favoring P6 schools.
You gonna be scouting the ISU @ Valpo game Wed. night? Next week the Sycs are in E-ville!
