Missouri State beat Belmont, 87-80.
Close game with UIC leading SIU with 5 minutes left.
Murray State demolished UNI today.
The MVC standings are getting crazy in the middle.

That dynasty in Cedar Falls... and their million dollar coach. A 29 point loss at home? I'd expect more if I was a fan.

ISU is for real. So is Drake. If the Valley doesn’t get 2 teams in this year, the system is rigged. Bradley could also make a case.

To get back to a two bid league this year we need anyone other than Indiana State to win the conference tournament and Indiana State to win every game they play except for the last one in the tournament. Trees have no bad losses and weak schedule rest of the way (except for the game at The Ford..lol) and Bradley has a number or bad losses. If anyone other than the Trees win the tournament will likely be the best bet for two teams this year. Its been a number of years since we had 2 or 3 teams in the Big Dance.

Long post. Jim Lunaedi was asked about the Valley getting 2 NCAA bids.He said the Trees have the best chance based on the NET.But based on the supposedly the new NCAA rules this is what the Trees have to do.Win the rest of there games by more than 20 points,go to the championship game of MVC tournament and have the game go into 2 or 3 overtimes.I can root for them in all of there games except when they play us.The Power 5 schools are doing there best to keep the mid majors out of the tournament but the Cinderella stories is what makes the tournament great.

Lunardi is wrong. Belmont and Drake got at-large bids recently and ISU’s resume is significantly better than those two.

Will be interesting to see what the selection committee does with the WCC teams. St. Mary's has 2 game edge in the standings and just beat Gonzaga, but they also have a loss to Missouri State. Keeping an eye on this one because a 2-team WCC could squeeze out a 2nd MVC team.

That dynasty in Cedar Falls... and their million dollar coach. A 29 point loss at home? I'd expect more if I was a fan. I believe the following is correct: Ben Jacobson is the highest paid coach in the league, 18th season. Josh Schertz is the lowest paid coach in the league, 3rd season. While the obsessive arrogance of a couple of online UNI posters makes it very tempting to pile on, I fully understand we are one of the last fanbases that needs to be piling on a program in a rough spot. I like Jacobson. I think he has gotten more with less talent than any coach in the league. He certainly did in 2016. I think there are a lot of similarities between him and Crews. Both hit the ground running. Both recruited the same type of hard-nosed sharpshooters surrounded by strong defenses. As well, both seemed unable to adjust their recruiting or game plans later in their careers. Someone posted the hometowns of the current roster of UNI players. Nearly all were from the Upper Midwest. The hard-nosed defenses he is known for seem to have fallen off in recent years. Possibly the speed and talent of the league has exceeded their capabilities. Other than SIU, everyone seems to be playing faster and scoring more. UNI is simply not stopping the offenses like they have in the past. It's easy to get complacent in a career. Being a millionaire in a place like Cedar Falls can be quite comfortable and insulate you from the pressures and realities of the outside world. Like many universities, there appears to be some serious financial issues. I don't believe they have an AD at present and despite their success, they have never really developed a sizeable fanbase. I am not sure how long they can afford a million plus salary for mid-level results. I also know if anyone can have a second act in them, it is Ben Jacobson.

Schertz has done a great job at ISU -- players really like him, well at least a Swope family member told me so. Where will he go next? --- DePaul has been thrown out there, but I just don't see that as a premier job. Maybe stay with the Trees another year and see what happens in Bloomington? Woodson probably survives this year, but is gone after that -- they need to give up on finding an "Indiana" guy.

From the things you just hate to see department, our beloved former conference brethren from Kansas choked up a 14 point lead with less than 8 minutes to go in Memphis yesterday. While Memphis winning is something I generally don't care for, they do get a tip of the hat for this comeback. The sleeping giant is in a full coma, sitting alone in the basement of the AAC at 1-8.

It is really hard to win games on the road in an arena where it's loud, and obviously creating stress. If you don't have the players with ice-water veins, a 14-point lead is a disaster waiting to happen. College basketball at that level is hard. Obviously with 1 conference win, the Shockmes are lacking an impact player. Hardaway isn't winning with luck alone. The AAC is still my second-favorite conference. They have some really nice programs, as was witnessed by their March results. Unrelated: Loyola has recovered from its illness in the A-10. "At that level"? The AAC trailed the MVC in NET rankings most of the year, and just recently took the #9 spot. In fact, SMU (who's leaving) is the only reason the AAC even holds a lead by the thinnest of margins. If you remove SMU, the MVC vaults right back ahead in NET. The AAC and MVC are now the same level. As for Memphis, whatever metric you use (NET or KenPom), they're 4th in the MVC.

I didn't ask for an argument about the MVC. I didn't even mention them. This is why I don't post any more and why I will stop again. Have an ice day, Mr. Metric. Jerk.
