From the things you just hate to see department, our beloved former conference brethren from Kansas choked up a 14 point lead with less than 8 minutes to go in Memphis yesterday. While Memphis winning is something I generally don't care for, they do get a tip of the hat for this comeback. The sleeping giant is in a full coma, sitting alone in the basement of the AAC at 1-8. Uh well tough going there Shockers

"At that level"? The AAC trailed the MVC in NET rankings most of the year, and just recently took the #9 spot. In fact, SMU (who's leaving) is the only reason the AAC even holds a lead by the thinnest of margins. If you remove SMU, the MVC vaults right back ahead in NET. The AAC and MVC are now the same level. As for Memphis, whatever metric you use (NET or KenPom), they're 4th in the MVC. I didn't ask for an argument about the MVC. I didn't even mention them. This is why I don't post any more and why I will stop again. Have an ice day, Mr. Metric. Jerk. You said "at that level" implying the AAC was a different level for the Shockers. That is no longer the case, so I provided data showing why. If that is not what you meant, then I'll apologize. All you had to do was clarify in a follow-up comment. But reverting to name-calling and calling me a "jerk" was completely uncalled for. I stuck strictly to facts and data - you made it personal by calling someone a "jerk". Name-calling is what an actual jerk does.

Losing their coach didn't help.

Their arrogance and superiority complex they once had leaves no sympathy from me.

I could have handled this better.

Looking at this week's MVC teams who are either 6-6 or 5-7 in conference standings: Missouri State (6-6) - at UNI (6-6) - the winner will be 7-6 and the loser will be 6-7 Murray State (6-6) - at Belmont (5-7) - if Belmont wins, both teams will be 6-7. If Belmont loses, they go to 5-8. Evansville (5-7) - hosting Bradley (9-3) - if UE wins, they go to 6-7. If UE loses, they go to 5-8. Illinois State (5-7) - hosting UIC (1-11) - if IL State wins, they go to 6-7. Lose, and they go to 5-8. Teams who could be 6-7: either Mo. State or UNI; Murray State and Belmont (with win); Evansville (with win); Ill. State (with win) Teams who could be 5-8: Belmont (losing); Evansville (losing); Ill. State (losing)
Regardless, I'm hoping the Aces have a very competitive game vs. Bradley. Wouldn't be disappointed as long as that happens!

The Bradley-Indiana State game, won in OT by the Trees, was a great game, worthy of being an NCAA tournament game. That was a fun, back and forth game, between two, talented, competitive teams. Our only hope against either team this season would be if they overlook us. Both are so much better than UE, and the other bottom teams in the Valley, it's not even close. Watching that game made me realize even more that the Aces have a long way to go to ever be at that level again. Glad it only took about 10 days.

It was an exciting win for the Aces last night, no question. The great start was huge. But that was one game. I wouldn't be so bold as to say that in only 11 days, the Aces are now on the same level as what we saw in that ISU-Bradley game.

I wouldn’t be so bold to think we are light years away from them, I think the difference between 1st place team to the last team is probably only a couple of players. We are proving we can compete, I think we will be fighting for top 4 next year!

If we hold onto our core and are able to bring in a Duke Deen caliber PG that can facilitate the offense and is a great shooter, we will absolutely be competing for the top 4, and I think we might just have a very real chance at a championship. There’s going to be a lot of talent turnover in the MVC this offseason with likely coaching changes and a lot of senior talent leaving. There’s going to be an opening at the top and I really think we could compete for it if we are able to bring back all of our talented players with eligibility left. That might be a big if in the transfer portal era, but that’s a problem for March and hopefully one we are well prepared to handle.

I just meant those teams on most nights are on another level. I'm not getting any younger- who is? It would be nice to get back to that level on a consistent basis again, and not have most of the MVC looking down their noses at us.

Indiana State cracks the AP top 25. Hopefully they can stay undefeated until they come to us for senior night and we can draw a big crowd and an upset victory
