Shallenberger played the Troy series and the UK game. Has seen no action since. If he's been beaten out by Rumsey, I can't say how or why that happened. He obviously is limited to OF, 1st base (Hug is killing it there) or DH. I suspect an injury. It's not like they have an "IL" for college players. He was hit by a pitch in the UK game but there's nothing to suggest he left the game. The game notes on the UK game are mysteriously lost due to "computer issues," the EMU notes ahead of that series said he was scheduled to start. He has not played.
These weekday games are kind of fun because they let Carroll use some players who he might need in Valley games.

We held Purdue to two runs today. Even more impressive when you look at their schedule and see that they have scored 12 or more runs in a game seven times this season. In the last three games (in a four game series) against Akron they scored 53 runs (in three games). That is over 17 runs a game. Note: Purdue lost their first game to Akron 2-1.
In Purdue’s eight losses they have scored only 26 runs (barely three runs a game.
So Purdue is a potent offense team. Will be interesting to see how we do in the next couple of games against them this weekend.

For those that don’t know, #16 Fairleigh Dickinson beat #1 Purdue in basketball’s March Madness yesterday.

The Aces sweep the two game series with Purdue today 6-4 for their fifth straight win. (The middle game yesterday was cancelled due to weather.)
The Aces are now 12-7. They play SIUE on Tuesday and have a three game series with Missouri State next weekend. Missouri State (11-8) and Evansville currently have the two best MVC non-conference records- although most MVC schools are right around .500.

If a team plays .580 ball in the Valley, that's real good. The key is to play a decent schedule since the first 10 games or so are usually pretty ragged for northern teams on the road. AS in anything, it's how you finish and the variables are manifold. This team will score runs and play defense. The bullpen is solid. Having Shally would upgrade them from the left side but he's out until April.

Ball game. SIUE rallies after the early Aces lead, but Aces win 11-7.

Instead of a long thread for the baseball season, I thought it might be easier to have a separate thread for each conference series.

SEMO game tonight at 6pm. Can we get our 10th straight against the team picked to finish first in the OVC?
SEMO RPI #179

I have a tough time defining which thread ought to be the most active for baseball. This week is pivotal. Afternoon non-con today (Tuesday) against the Western Kentucky Hilltrompers ... and a really interesting weekend matchup against the Carbondale Fleabags. UE offense has come back to Earth of late, but not knowing the pitchers they faced, it's hard to measure. I think they were shellshocked by Belmont, which is better than their rating. Valpo was maybe luckier than it is good, but still ... it's what you want from a conference -- competitive games.
Should be some streaming this weekend.

I sort of adopted this thread for single weekday games, then creating a unique thread for weekend series games (per E-Villan.)

Nothing useful to complain about but I've seen high school productions of baseball to be more tech-savvy than this one camera on the roof at Western Ky. Seriously folks, get into the 21st century.
