“…Assistant coach Marcus Wilson led Bailey’s recruitment because he played professionally with Bailey’s father.…”

This is a big win for Kenny Strawbridge. He had a lot of pressure on him last year and he proved he could handle it. With the arrival of Chuck, defenses won't be able to focus on just him. Kenny will have the best season of his college career. You can write that down.

It is Haffner that should also free up teams packing the lane and daring us to shoot from three every game. I can see how Strawbridge would love this pick up, but I also believe that the bigs will as well because it frees them up instead of the constant double teaming we have seen when the ball goes to the block. I’m excited to see it all come in place.

I’m excited to see it all come in place. Definitely. One player can make a difference, but one player can't make all the difference. Strawbridge will have a better team around him. He will score in double figures because he is a scorer, but he doesn't need to be the leading scorer. Seven players averaging just above or near 10 points is ideal, especially when you have several who can step up when the game is on the line. A clever guard can also get the ball to Toumi or Kalle where they can be successful. It would be nice if they could create their own shots, but I haven't seen it yet. If Chuck wants to demonstrate that he is NBA material, he will need to make those around him better. I'm certain that he understands that. My biggest concern as always will be the injuries that always seem to find us. Until our bench has been recruited into relevance, we can't have starters sitting in street clothes.

Anyone know what Chuck’s stats were the last couple of years? I see a Hoop City Films Facebook post from two years ago (March 3rd, 2021) quoting his mid-year sophomore stats of 31.7 ppg, 7.9 apg, 11.3 rbg at Higley high school in Phoenix.
Those are quite some numbers, especially for a sophomore. Not entirely sure of the level of competition but this kid has superstar written all over him with those types of numbers and ratings.
I still think as a freshman that he will be battling a fifth year point guard and a second year OVC freshman of the year shooting guard for a starting spot and minutes.
Would be very interesting to know his later high school stats and the level of competition it was against.

Chuck played this past season at Hamtramck in suburban Detroit. He averaged 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Chuck was 1st team all Detroit area and 3rd team all state. His teammate and fellow senior and PG Amari Allen averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Amari was also 1st team all Detroit area and 2nd team all state.

What an incredible backcourt. Statistically Chuck was not even the best player or guard on his high school team. They must have had some incredible battles in practice. Amari is listed as a four-star recruit. I don’t see any college commitment for him even though he was a 2023 senior.

Amari received an offer from Coastal Alabama Comm. Coll. in November 2022. He is listed on an AAU Under 17 team this summer. Must still be available.

Local media invited to practice today. Anthony will post interviews later.
Note: I think that is the mystery man passing Chuck the ball.

Hard to read the article without a translator but presumably this is from when Marcus and Chuck’s dad played together overseas:

Cool, I have been told he is the real deal and will be a starter.
