Any updates on the non-conference schedule? With 4 fewer games, are the first 4 games just gone, or will there be some shuffling? If the Purdue game is off, will that be rescheduled for a future year?

Mailbag: Projecting Evansville basketball's starting five, the Valley's order of finish amp.courierpress.com/amp/3586961001?__twitter_impression=true“... the Aces have been training for an entire month now and recently were allowed to return to the court, though I haven't seen any of the workouts in person. Each player is allotted 12 hours of skill work and conditioning per week. Eight of the 12 hours can be on-court. Practices can’t begin until at least Oct. 14, or 42 days before the first game. We simply don’t know yet if that first contest will on opening night (Nov. 25), which leads me to...“

This is a good time for someone to ask about why Peace and Matthews are not playing at all. Are they injured? Do all players get an extra year? If so, it doesn't make sense for them to redshirt.
Any recruiting news?

I think the obvious questions are the ones that surface on boards like this where the people who contribute have more than a click-bait interest in the program.
If you are fishing for questions, which ones would YOU ask if you were posting regularly on PAP?

Mailbag: Questions and answers about UE basketball, USI, Thunderbolts and more amp.courierpress.com/amp/3982432001?__twitter_impression=trueThis is the biggest thing I took from the article: “...Ilegomah returned after the summer-long quarantine out of shape and overweight. So, while he’s been practicing, he’s not ready to play, according to Lickliter...” Wow, the kid is on a D1 scholarship at a private institution getting a free ride and he shows up out of shape...Now I don’t know if he has extenuating circumstances to justify this; but on the surface it makes me wonder about this scholarship. We need a big guy bad; but we also need a guy who takes his commitment to the team seriously. Hopefully I am not being overly hard on the kid, but these are my initial thoughts after hearing why he is not playing. I hope he gets it together soon and helps the team out as we will need him at some point.

The Mailbag:
The Mailbag comment about if (whether) UE would drop out of D-1, the thinking is that there would not be sufficient savings to go to D-2, so only place left is D-3. which is non-scholarship, mostly.
Which is kind of interesting ... so if it's not a value to go down to D-2, it's obviously not a value to go up to D-2 from D-3 ... so what I've derived is --
What's the point of D-2 and why doesn't the NCAA do something to make it more valuable?

If you can rob Peter Academics to pay Paul Athletics as they are doing now, dropping down will never be necessary. We are also looking at budgets of all kinds through the lens of a stubborn pandemic. Hopefully this is a temporary blip but there are no guarantees. Worst case scenario, some scientists are saying that melting ice will release trapped viruses that we have no experience with from eons past. This may be a century of pandemics. Or maybe everything will come up roses before next season. I can't grow roses to save my life so I'm concerned. I do know that I won't be following D3 basketball. They'll have to drop down without me.

I believe the conversation about UE going D2 or lower was brought up by the person who wrote the article at the end of his own personal opinion.

Believe we got our answers about Peace and Samari. Peace isn't in shape to play basketball. And Samari still has some learning and getting better before he starts playing more.

They'll have to drop down without me. Amen to that. There are a couple of low-level college teams around here and I don't follow them at all, don't even know who coaches them or what conference they inhabit. NAIA nationals have had some interesting games, but I don't get upset if I miss it. I hope UE is a very long way from this conversation getting out of the tavern and onto the street.

There are 424 D3 basketball teams. It's wishful thinking to expect UE to be dominant after stocking up with D3 recruits. A great team might draw a couple hundred to the Meeks. An ordinary team could play in an old phone booth. This will never happen and I don't know why we can't stop pretending it might. It's more likely that there would be no athletic teams and truth be told that could make UE even more special academically.

It's more likely that there would be no athletic teams and truth be told that could make UE even more special academically. I don't know that anyone who seriously posts here is pretending anything of the sort. One grizzled participant on another thread yabbered it out, and a full swath of tennis racquets came down on his head. The comment from the C-P writer about "D-II" came out to me as somewhat interesting because somebody obviously is asking about it. You will always have that sort of comment from people who only see what they choose to see. Empty fieldhouse, mediocre team = lack of interest. I distinctly recall my ex-wife's mother saying right after the crash that UE ought to drop sports. This woman was easily convinced that her opinion was misguided. She was a bright lady and was willing to listen to reason. There ain't much of that going on now. To your point, the only D-III programs that I ever followed were the freak shows like Grinnell or Greenville, mainly because you never know what kind of weirdness will happen. One year, I watched the NAIA tournament because 3 of the final 4 teams were Indiana schools and a couple of the kids in the tournament were from this area. I had no rooting interest in it.

I believe the conversation about UE going D2 or lower was brought up by the person who wrote the article at the end of his own personal opinion. I was referencing the broader community who chatter about the Aces dropping down to more glory days. I know the fan board isn’t that stupid with a couple of troll exceptions.
