Why would the G League take a chance on a player who sit out for 3 months due to a bad back,I know I wouldn't. The G League is a developmental league, so if they think the upside is great enough, they take “chances” on lots of guys. If he does end up that route, I’m sure they will do their due diligence with that much money at stake (at the NBA level). It is all about evaluation, percentages and upside...I’ve had a questionable back for decades and have been able “to compete” 95+ percent of the time no problem. But when it does flare you need to “baby” it so it doesn’t become really serious and debilitating. I do not know the extent of DeAndre’s back situation; however, I would speculate with the correct exercises (for the core and back and stretching) that he could keep it in check most of the time. Of course, basic alignment and lifting techniques and form (which we take for granted when we are younger) will help as well. If DeAndre is healthy and that is a big if for us since we are not in the know, DeAndre needs to bulk up a bit and improve his ball handling and skills a little more and go up against stronger competition to see where he is at. He does have an NBA skill set but there are few that make it to the league and especially stick. I wish him luck in his journey and dream. But if the back holds up and he stays healthy he will make a lot of money somewhere.

I was confident he was leaving so I voted No. There were way too many factors at play for him to stay. Old for a college kid, why return for a complete rebuild, his coach buddy was fired, girlfriend transferred, and knows he can go play in Europe and make lots of Euros.

Would I like to see DeAndre stay, yes. But his talent has been judged on 13 games, while healthy.Yes he had a monster game against a weak Ohio team. But he also had mediocre games. So in closing,he is probably testing the waters to see what schools are interested,if the NCAA does not change the transfer rule,he sits another year,or he decides th stay.

I’m assuming he’ll transfer if the transfer penalty is waived due to Covid-19. If the transfer penalty is maintained, he should just look at going pro in Europe.
