“…He has two years of eligibility remaining. He shot 39.1 percent from the field (18 of 46), missed all 12 of his 3-point attempts and made 58.8 percent (10 of 17) of his free-throw attempts for a true shooting percentage of 42.5, which was the lowest on the team. He averaged 0.9 in 29 games as a freshman when Miami won the ACC regular-season title and advanced to the Final Four, appearing in three NCAA Tournament games. He played in 53 games in two seasons as a Hurricane, averaging 1.4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. Casey is a former four-star prospect with a 90-rating from Chicago (Ill.) Whitney Young. He was ranked as the 24th-best power forward and 134th overall player in the 2022 class according to 247Sports…. Casey began the season as the primary backup to Matthew Cleveland and averaged 3.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 12.0 minutes through the first 13 games with the Hurricanes off to an 11-2 start. His start included a pair of games against NJIT and Stonehill where he scored eight points. But Casey fell out of the rotation, playing 10 minutes just once over the team’s final 19 games with eight DNP’s over that stretch. He finished the season with a 1.64 Bayesian Performance Rating (BPR), which ranked ninth among the 11 scholarship players on the team, according to EvanMiya.com. His 1.98 Defensive BPR was the third-highest and his on-off defensive split of plus-16.5 led the team, meaning the team was better defensively with him on the floor by 16.5 points over 100 possessions. His plus/minus rating of plus-59 was third-highest on the team...” 247sports.com/college/miami/article/miami-hurricanes-basketball-pf-aj-casey-entering-the-transfer-portal-228828968/amp/

If this kid wants to come to UE, don't let him leave EVV without committing.
He's a Whitney Young HS alumnus, former 4 star recruit, 6'9" athlete, shot blocker, and held offers from the likes of Purdue, Ohio State, Florida, Marquette, etc.
Who cares what minutes he played at Miami! ACC training and competition will prepare him for the Valley.

We argue about Casey and his time at Miami and defend Bobe who was a walkon most of his time at UE.
If Casey was just coming out of HS this year with his background and offers we would be chirping Final Four if we could get him.

I think most on here realize that at worst Casey would be an equivalent replacement for Toumi, and he would most likely be much much better if we’re lucky enough to sign him.

Not arguing,I don't want to get our hopes up and AJ ends up being another Peace. If we do sign AJ I hope he flourishes on the floor and classroom.

Now that we have Tashawn in the fold I hope that AJ can see see the advantages of having a strong PG running the offense allowing him to play his best in the wings. I’m sure this is being discussed with AJ.

Wouldn’t Nic Book look good on the other corner? I haven’t forgotten about Ramondo Battle either. We could be a force in the Valley with these additions and others the coaches are chasing.

I think Ramondo is going to be a sneaky good addition for us. If we’re in a position where he has to come off the bench next year, we’re going to be looking very competitive in the MVC. I really like Nic Book too, but if we add all the pieces we’re speculating on, I’m not sure he’ll have a very big role his freshman season. Definitely a very strong building block for the future though.

They have one good season, and they are looking for greener pastures. Basically just using Valley teams as steppingstones. No thanks.

If AJ Casey has a 1st team all MVC season, he’ll be back in the portal looking to finish out in the ACC. Look at Malik Dia. P5 Bench to MVC All Conference back to the P5 for a bigger role. Can’t be scared of recruiting talent just because it may leave. Doesn’t matter if it’s high schoolers or P5 bench guys, they’ll all leave if they’re good enough. I’m more inclined to say don’t recruit high schoolers unless you think they can play immediately for your team, which I’m not sure Nic can, but if you think they’ll play as sophomores and hang around that long, it’s probably still worth it.

Wouldn’t Kaia Berridge fit into that HS mode? He did transfer from New Zealand to a school in San Francisco which I assume is a prep school.
After watching video of Book I see a 6-8 bruiser who might grow another inch or two with an outside shot. If he comes maybe he develops into a pretty good college player, or maybe UE coaches have found better prospects in the portal who are interested in UE.

Conwell (S. FL to ISU) is one of recent vintage in the MVC.Made All-NIT squad w/ only 1 basket in the Final Game! You figure...a
Make the Whitney Young kid happy @ UE and a nice talent pipeline could open. Miami is different world...
The LH New Zealander (Book) will at a minimum, make the 6'-10" Australian a better player in his 1st yr. of scrimmaging.

AJ is waiting for a better offer,So I would tell AJ you have 3 days to decide if not we are moving foward.
