IN State with the non-Virginia offensive output. Wow, ISU came back twice in this game and just blew it open there at the end. E-villan, when they had a closeup of Schertz there at the end, I noticed he was smiling a bit as he glanced over the crowd. I agree, he has to feel that was pretty special tonight.
Also, congrats to Bradley. They led wire to wire and withstood Loyola's comeback. Ended up winning by 12 points as the Bradley crowd started chanting M-V-C, M-V-C in the last minute of the game. The announcer even acknowledged that the crowd was doing that, and said "message received." That was hilarious!

Indiana State comes back to win it 101-92. Great crowd in Terre Haute tonight. I don't care how much SLU is throwing around, there is no way Schertz couldn't look around the Hulman Center and not question if he should stay. Hell, I would even contribute a little to the Keep Josh in Terre Haute fund, even knowing he would probably kick our asses again next year with that roster coming back. Keep that band together another year, have another special season at ISU and then cash in on a job much better than SLU. Yep, keep it together one more year --- and I have already seen some Hoosier fans mention Schertz in social media posts, as they don't want Woodson back beyond next year.

Schertz should definitely stay one more year. Better opportunities will be available to him. In my opinion St. Louis isn’t all that big of a step forward other than money. He can do better in my opinion.

The problem is ISU doesn’t have the money to keep the band together even if they kept Schertz. The vultures are already circling and tampering I’m sure. He’s got a better shot of keeping the team together in St Louis than he does in Terre Haute. He keeps that roster together and they likely contend for an A10 title in year one, and he’ll have plenty of suitors again next season. Sucks that that’s the way it is, but unless ISU has some big donors ready to pony up $300-400k maybe even more than that, they’re bound to lose some guys.

It's a matter of the right people convincing them that they aren't going to end up with another sh-- show like their president pulled over the baseball tournament. Practical fans will say they got hosed by the NCAA. Realists will say they should have beaten Drake and didn't. If they keep shooting 70 pct. halves, they are probably going to make it to NY. Home court in a tournament is a major lever.

There’s no Admin in TH to make a convincing argument for JS to stay. They are replacing their AD and Pres in June. He doesn’t have much of a choice but to leave when the other option is no option…
Also, the NIT final 4 is at Hinkle. The next 2 are in TH, and the final 2 are in Indy. Good sending away present…

They deserve it after this season and what’s about to happen when Schertz leaves.

The only team I ever really followed in the NIT was the 2016 Valpo team, which made it to the final game. They played 3 games at home and handily won all of them. The ARC was packed for every game. But they lost that local advantage by having to go to MSG, where nobody actually cared about Valpo or Brigham Young. So, Hinkle is a nice prize.

So the NCAA is rewarding mediocre power 5 teams who don't make the NCAA tournament by putting them in the NIT ahead of teams who won there regular season conference.I was wondering how they felt when they were snubbed by some power 5 schools this year by saying no to the NIT.

Those teams probably made more money not playing the NIT because they saved the expense of going to it. It's not like they aren't getting some rewards for their conferences eating up all the units in the NCAA. Dunno, but it proves the administrations of these universities either don't care about their school's prestige or are being manhandled by superstar athletes who'd rather take the rest of the winter off than suit up for a game in Boise. That aside, I really was weary of listening to the announcers like Crean and his sidekick who were sermonizing to the viewers about how the teams that decided to play the NIT were somehow more patriotic than the ones that didn't.

I think those P5 Teams should have played. I agree with Crean. There's seniors and non starters that would have like to play. Why not get another week of practice and games in. And about the money. They would have played at home, so ticket fees, concession sales and merchandise sells would have brought in millions more for the program.

I don't think Crean and the others are wrong but make the point and move on, rather than lecture the fans on TV about how the teams that opted out are somehow part of the evil empire. I don't know why these guys didn't play but I assume it was a decision by the players and not the administrations. I can't envision a coach telling them they aren't going to play and if they don't like it, tough.
