Louisville wants Pearl badly. There will be a lot of zeros thrown around to keep him at Auburn. If they do, Cronin comes back from La La Land.

One of the advantages of coaching changes (especially firings) is a number of good D-1 players become eligible transfers. It was just announced on ESPN that the Louisville HC will be fired tomorrow. I expect that a number of schools will be looking at their programs after the post season teams are selected. Coach Rags seems pretty solid at UE and I’m sure the coaching staff will be surfing the portal to fill any open scholarships we have. Hopefully when the dust settles we can all get excited again for the season to begin in October. Could Rags be a candidate for UL or similar openings? I hope not but his results are impressive. not a chance at Louisville. They have a ton of cash to spend and will get a big name with a big contract.

I was confused how players could be entering the portal already and being contacted when the portal doesn't open until March 18. Looks like players from teams with fired coaches and grad students can enter immediately..

In all of the portal announcements I have read the athletes have said they intend to transfer and will be entering the portal. I agree the portal is not yet open and no one is in the portal.

In fact, it probably means they’ll screw up- like Indiana.

It had long been sssumed this would be the case, bur the NCAA is officially allowing multiple transfers until their legal battle is resolved.

If players hit the transfer portal every year, don’t be surprised when the fans do also
I hate where this is going

Wow, I can see teams trading players at the "deadline" now to get them past that tournament mess that forces them to be a 14th seed. NCAA has formally decided that it can't regulate college basketball. What we don't focus on here is other sports, mainly big-time college football. The growth of the P4 football playoff is generating enough money to run most global governments. The NIL there is harder to define because guys who play the grunt positions are likely still needing their schollies, while the QBs and RBs are getting paid handsomely to be the face of the Orange Bowl brought to you by Principal and T-Mobile, with a shoutout to Burger King and Nissan.
Whatever legal battles the NCAA wins will make no difference in the trends. At some point, the Congress and the courts, all strangely conservative in opposition to colleges having a say in the world, will probably rule that the NCAA is obsolete and can be replaced by private money.
Amazon and State Farm might see fit to start a league and let "University of Oklahoma" in if they pay the $500M entry fee.

Chance Moore follows Benson into the portal at Missouri State. Will probably be even more going in shortly.

Another top quality player bolting Missouri St.
By my count we have 9 currently on scholarship and 2 signees from November. If no one transfers out that means we have 2 more to give this Spring. The portal looks like a box of donuts sitting on the table. Which one do you want.
In a way the portal is better than HS recruiting as you can see how players have performed at the college level and at what degree of competition. The wild card of course is the NIL. Mix in JUCO and foreign players and the pool seems endless.
It’s hard not to be excited about the possibilities of how getting the right couple of players could boost the Aces to the top of the Valley.

I was just thinking about Blaise Beauchamp a little after Sekou Kalle reposted on X that Blaise was reentering the portal.
Blaise has proven he can play in the Valley even though he was a little weak defensively. He can shoot the 3 with anyone from NBA range, has a midrange game and can finish at the rim better than anyone on the team. The big question mark is which of these skills have turned to rust by sitting out.
The best part is he remained in school at UE and is currently a grad student. He has proven he can handle UE academics. Will coach Rags pull the trigger on Blaine? He would be immediately available to play pickup games and hit the weight room with the rest of the team.
Maybe this is a match too good to pass. I sure would like to see him firing those 3s wearing purple and orange along with the blackouts. Apparently Sekou would like to see him too.

I need a little history lesson.Did Blaise enter the Portal after TL was let go,or did Rags not retain him when he was hired.

I need a little history lesson.Did Blaise enter the Portal after TL was let go,or did Rags not retain him when he was hired. Blaise hung around after Ragland was hired and then quit on the team mid season and entered the transfer portal. He’s not the type of guard Ragland wants or needs. He’s not a good defender and he really wasn’t that good at shooting 3s. He shot 34% over his UE career and needs to take a high volume of shots to get that poor percentage. Based on him quitting mid season, I don’t think he was buying into the culture Ragland wanted to build either. I hope he finds somewhere to play, but there’s a reason he’s entered the portal 3 times now and has yet to find a home.
