Bobe wasnt in the game on those 3 pointers. And UIC was driving to the basket at will, then they started kicking out to the open man.

something good to point out. Bobe’s defense and lateral movement was excellent. Creating two charges against guys who are obviously quicker than him was impressive

I have been saying for some time that we need to upgrade Bobe’s position as he has a lot of limitations in his Valley play. With that being said, this was probably his best overall game in an Aces uniform. He was constantly guarding bigger and quicker players and still getting the job done. His floor play was what you would expect of a 5th year player and he doesn’t back down. He’s a good shooter when he’s on his game. If he were better at taking the ball to the rim his critics would have been silent including me.
When Gage ends his playing career at UE I hope he looks back and says I played the game as best I could. After all he’s just a kid and not a million dollar pro.

Bobe is the player on every team who you want sent to a Siberian fishing village, right before he does something that makes you smile.

UIC had four 3pointers within 90 secs that killed the rally we had going. Would have to go back and watch what happened defensively or if it was just Rivera being in the zone for a minute.
If I remember Bobe wasn't in the game at this time. Just saying. For the record Rivera had three three-pointers in less than a minute from the 5:33 mark to the 4:37 mark. Chuck made a basket at the 4:16 mark to cut the UIC lead to one (69-70). Gage checked in at the 4:14 mark (down one) for Cam and played the rest of the game. We lost by nine (79-88). (Here are the Live Stats if you want to cross reference/check.) Before Rivera went on his tear, we were up 65-61. So yes, Gage was not in the game at the time Rivera made his run. Would Gage have made a difference? - not sure. But he (and the rest of the guys) had four minutes to stop the bleeding and reclaim the lead and didn't. So, we definitely loss as a team but maybe Gage could have played better D on Rivera and UIC would not have gotten the momentum and confidence and possibly it is a different story (but it would have had to be a ten-point swing minimum).

Agree, would Bobe have made a difference, we will never know.At least with a healthy Ben we know we can compete with any team in the league.

Bobe don’t hurt us but he definitely don’t help us. We play 4 on 5 really 3 1/5 on 5 because Thomas don’t give us much either. Both are under 6ft and can’t score. In this league the guards on the opposing teams are the best players and leading scorers majority of the time. Gage avg 3pts and Thomas avg 7 that’s the problem to the bad starts and bad ending but it’s too late in the season to keep talking about this 3 games left. Let’s just hope they can get it done and we finish atleast .500

To me the PG spot for next year is an unknown. Obviously Tanner is solid and has two more years. Kaia Berridge (new recruit) is a bit of an unknown (for me). Hard to get much information on him. His stats don’t jump out but he seems to play on a great team with lots of competition. Seems like the staff is high on him (presumably). Guessing that he is a pass first guard who can penetrate and has some height and presumably is about winning (and not stats) - a team first type of player. But really speculating with the limited information on him.
Seems like we may need a more prototypical speedy point guard as well who can hit FTs at crunch time. Maybe Kaia is that guy - not sure.

Assuming the rest stay, it could get fun next year I think it’s going to be a lot easier to convince a dynamic guard to come to Evansville this offseason. Were a dynamic guard and wing away from legitimate MVC title contending. There’s definitely going to be an opening at the top of the MVC this offseason. Schertz is likely gone from ISU. There are rumors that McDermott from Creighton is OSUs top target. If he takes that job, Drakes Devries would likely be a contender for the Creighton job. Dana Ford may or may not get fired from MSU this offseason. If all that comes to be, I see us as a definite top 4 team next year if we can hang onto our roster and add 1-2 of the right pieces. Jerry Stackhouse is also likely going to be fired at Vanderbilt in the next two weeks. I would love for us to make a strong push for JQ Roberts if he enters the portal. I think he would be a better version of NJ Benson if we got him.

Plus Jake will be a target at Washington There will be lots of movement in the league and we need guards, not bigs =much easier Could be fun next year if we land the right pieces
