Oh how I miss Roberts Stadium easy in and out and when you, plenty of wheel chair parking and in the cold you were inside in less than 10 minutes. Heaven forbid that we could of built the new arena behind the old Roberts. Thanks to the old Dem. mayor can't wait to see what this one does. In the later years Robert's was a nightmare to get out of.They did away with civil defense doing the traffic. I live by the airport and can get home twice as fast now.

Nobody in this city likes change. You don't have to walk any farther at the Ford than you did at Roberts. Roberts was horrible getting out of after any event. Have you never been to a big city for an event? We still have it made as far as parking compared to others.

I wonder if/when the Ford Center gets replaced when we are all gone and dead if the Evansvillians will complain about that like they did Roberts Stadium? For God’s sake, the walk isn’t that bad and by the looks of half the people in the city, some good old fashioned exercise wouldn’t do you any harm.

As you said, The Ford is not that bad...but it is not what it could have been. It could have been a larger facility so we could host bigger concerts, NCAA regionals and who knows what else we missed on by the former admin building a smaller facility than Roberts and one with seats very tight for anyone 6 feet or taller. This was a miss I don't care where it was built. We had to do something with Roberts because of the flooding concern and water table issues but we could have done better than what we did. However, a lot of other communities do not have a place as nice as the Ford Center so I guess there is always that perspective. Just a reminder for those who forgot it, Evansville, IN is a basketball city, NOT a hockey city and the facility should have been built with basketball first in mind.

Well I’m 6’2 and the seats don’t seem too bad to me. If you’re having issues fitting in them, maybe slow down on the supersize Whopper Value Meals just saying. Another point, if we can’t come close to filling the arena now, why would a larger arena have been the answer? Seems like the D-2 and OVC tournaments find it to be more than adequate. One thing is true about people from Evansville, they love some whine with that cheese.

One thing is true about people from Evansville, they love some whine with that cheese. The arena is the perfect size for Evansville and I’m a pretty big guy and have never had a seating problem either. USIs new arena on the other hand…. Those seats are tight and very uncomfortable in comparison to the Ford Center. iBleedpurple is spot on about how stupid making it a hockey first arena was though. I will complain until the day I die or they demolish the building that they should’ve spent the money to get retractable seating in the end zones of the stadium that would go down to the baselines like all the NBA/NHL shared arenas have. Allowing the venue operator to also be the owner of one of the main tenants that gets preferential treatment is also something I’ll never stop complaining about until I die or it’s changed, but that’s a whole different discussion….

I do agree with the retractable seating.

There's a huge free lot a block a way on the east side. The problem isn't the parking, the problem is the lazy overweight Americans (73% of the country) being too lazy to walk a block.

It’s the lazy SOB’s who do most of the bitching too. Facts. Evansville has a significant population of people who identify as ‘I just like to bitch about things’ 😅😂

I was talking to a friend of mine who is a policeman and he told me the first game that Evansville had at the new arena he was working security outside on 6 street. He said a gentleman drove up roll this window down 20 minutes before the game was going to start and complained about there was no place to park. I believe the announced crowd at that game was 8500 or 9 thousandand this guy was expecting acting to park one block away from the arena.

People have no problem walking up and down Franklin Street to eat about 50 different foods at the FF. But make them walk a block and it's like you are putting a gun to their head. It would be nice however to reward season ticket sales with garage parking. It's a good perk and could encourage higher sales of season tickets from people like that. My issue with the Ford Center is the layout of the arena like Larry mentioned - the parking is a non issue for me. I don't like so many seats in the upper deck and the seats on the ends being too far away from the court due to cut corners and pathetic planning from the builders. I liked the seating layout of Roberts much, much better. But that is just my opinion.

Lets face it, walking the same distance to and from an Aces game with our lack of talent and lack of quality wins the last 20 years is a far more painful walk than going down Franklin for some calorie filled treats On another note, don't forget The Fabulous Ford was built for hockey, that was the main priority and tennant
