After two (2) losses last week @ H to IL St & A @ SIU, the Tree's are in "reset mode." Some talk now re: Swope and his family NIL "tampering" and it's impact on his last 4-5 game shooting woes. Some idiot in TH is also allegedly selling T-shirts highlighting the "ISU Top 6," which obviously leaves out half the team! The HC is on the "hot seat" now after 3 yrs of "grace" for failing to develop his bench in those blowout wins.
No way in hell that ISU will win Arch Madness...and I'm predicting a BIG Aces win @ Ford over them!
It has fast become apparent that Drake is the best team in the league now, so I'd say the Sickos need some help. The wild card here is how they all perform on the neutral court. Criticism of Schertz seems very "hoosier" of the fans. Just because he lets guys play in blowout games doesn't mean those guys are really learning anything. If you watched UE vs. the UHSP game and saw how the walk-on's played ... seriously, they had one goal in mind and they kept missing it.

Development occurs in practice and real game situations, not in blowouts against demoralized opponents. I don’t think playing guys in blowouts would be helping their current situation. Instead of the current complaints, fans would just be complaining that he hadn’t recruited enough depth for the team, and if he had played the bad depth in blowouts, they’d also be complaining about how they’re losing the first place tiebreaker with Drake now because their NET ranking is lower because they pulled their foot off the gas in blowouts and only won by 10 instead of 30.

Have you seen the ISU HC "walk on water" yet? Good coaches ACCEPT criticism...part of the natural "checks & balances" of NCAA sport.
Syc's have played a lot of minutes between 6 players. Injuries related to fatigue will manifest themselves both physically/health and mentally. I don't think THIS ISU squad can go toe to toe in the Arch Semi's w/ Drake, Bradley or SIU.
Then there's Newburgh's SWOPE, who some are suggesting may be playing himself back to Div II level...

Locked into the 10 seed and more than likely playing Illinois State. I think I would rather get another shot at Murray, but ISU is beatable if we play to our best.

Here's another simpler table of where teams will like land in their seeding for the MVC tournament and the tiebreakers: mvc-sports.com/news/2024/2/29/2024-arch-madness-tournament-tiebreaker-scenarios.aspxThe important seeding information for us, given that we are locked into the 7/10 game is: We likely play Illinois State in the 7/10 game; but there is a chance that we open with Murray State. Note: Illinois State and Murray State are both currently 9-10. Both are on the road, but Illinois State has the much easier matchup at Valparaiso versus Murray State's game at Indiana State. Sunday, March 3 Network Time (CT) | Illinois State at Valparaiso ESPN+ 1:00 PM | UIC at Missouri State ESPN+ 1:00 PM | UNI at Southern Illinois ESPN+ 1:00 PM | Bradley at Drake ESPN2/ESPN+ 2:30 PM | Murray State at Indiana State MVC TV/ESPN+ 3:00 PM | Evansville at Belmont ESPN+ 4:00 PM |
