Aces with the 78-75 win. Some big defensive plays by Josh in the last few seconds.
We snap a five-game losing streak and double our MVC win total from last season.

Glad to see the W. Ben is a good luck charm and his points made the difference.

Who gets the belt tonight?
Bradley was down by 21 at the half of their game and came back and was up by 1 with 10 seconds left. I didn't hear the final score.

Who gets the belt tonight?... It really should be a team award tonight as it was a group effort. If I had to pick it would have to be Josh or possibly Ben (just because of his return). I lean toward Josh (8 points, 9 rebounds and some big defensive plays at the end). But Yacine, Tanner and Chuck should be in the conversation as well. Cam had some good moments as well, especially somewhere from the 10 to 5 minute mark in the second half. I think Rags said Cam got the belt.

When a guy like Stafford gets hot, coach has to tell our defense to stick on him like glue. Make the others beat you 4 on 4 -- and don't sag off the guy with the hot hand. That did not happen tonight.

1. Nice to see Ben back even if briefly. Him being back gave the fans and team energy. He will be rusty and it will be a while before he gets back in game shape but Ben at 50% makes us a whole lot better.
2. We were sloppy with the ball and very poor on the defensive boards...way too many second and third change points and a lot of really bad turnovers with many of them by guys with a lot of experience.
3. We were lucky to win the game with the lineup on the court after Bailey went out around the 5 minute mark. Strawbridge comes in the game, makes a bad pass, hits the other kid in the face and stops all our momentum. Fifth year senior or not, I am sitting him during this period and having Cuff or Bailey in the game, even Bobe to be perfectly honest about it. The coaching staff got lucky this did not cost us the game imho. Glad with just a under a minute we did put Bailey back in the game on defense along with Thomas but it was way too late if it was me.
4. Guard play..we are really hurting vs teams with solid guard play. Case in point tonight and Murray State. We must recruit more athletic guards that can shoot the ball and beat people off the dribble. We don't have it. Bailey is as close as anything we have but he often does not finish at the rim and has a pretty low shooting percentage. I thought he played pretty well tonight especially in the 2nd half. I know he is just a freshman.
5. Haffner..really happy he had a shining moment in the game where we went up to a nine point lead..his 3 pointer, his layup, his assist to Bailey gave us an 8-0 run. We must get more of that from him to win some of these close games. Him playing well is such a boost for us.
6. If attendance was 4,000+ as someone posted that is pretty good for mid week game on a cold night in good ole Evansville.
Based on recent MVC play, I do not see why we cannot finish ahead of Valpo, UIC and Ill State. Not sure we can get much higher than that, but with a healthy Ben and rest of the team staying healthe perhaps we can. Finishing with three teams below us is better than last year.
Go Aces. Go get one of two on the road. It will not be easy.

The announcer was talking about how Ben has to get trust back in the ankle. So, it must have been an ankle injury (and not a foot injury).

Nice to see all the student-athletes get recognized at the game tonight, but only about 1/3 stayed for the 2nd half...guess they had to go study.

Great win, 2 MVC wins, keep them coming. I guess even the biggest doubter would have to admit we have improved and our talent level has improved. Taking baby steps!

I heard the radio announcers prior to the IU/Purdue game discussing their upcoming game. and they both agreed that by this time in the season a coach should know his best 5 -6 players and play them most of the game, barring serious foul trouble, etc. I think our "subbing" by squads at set times in games hurts us. I think we need to have a starting five that includes Cuff and Bailey {yes, I know Bailey can be a little too selfish, but he is capable of putting a lot of points on the board). Ben, Josh, and Toumi also should be on that starting bunch. I know Ben's injury has messed up our line-up, but we still have lots of games left to play and I hope we play most of the minutes with our most-capable line-up.
Just my opinion...I think the flow of the game should start with our best and not be so often broken up. Also, we were lucky to win this game with our silly turnovers and our weak defense ...have to improve in both areas, and fast!
