The two that vowed to never return were probably some of the idiots that kept chatting on the stairs and couldn't figure out how to find a seat. One bad home performance and we have idiots vowing never to return? Bye! The ushers need to do what they do during the hockey games. They stop people at the top of the stairs until there is a dead puck. 100% agree about limiting aisle use to timeouts!!! Back in year 3 of the FC i could not make it back to our seats before the end of the timeout because of taking my young grandson to the restroom. Rather than disturb people having to stand up for us I stopped at the top of the row to wait for the next media time out. I took a temporary seat at the swivel seat just inside the opening. The usher told me I couldn't sit there because people pay for these seats. I explained why I was temporarily there. He proceeded to argue with me and called security to have me removed from the stadium. So I then proceeded to disturb those in my row to return to our seats during play. Ironically, upon leaving after the game the same usher was saying to all leaving "hope you enjoyed the game".
The worst part of all of this is that you will remind us a hundred more times that "Wilson's guys" will be chasing pots o' gold. I believe you. But that will be followed by even more "I told you so" comments. I can hardly wait.
We have as much chance of retaining Wilson's guys as Wilson has of ever being a head coach.
Just to be clear; Wilson’s “guys” are Kenny, Chuck and Ben; Kenny is done after this year so he’s not considered in this discussion, Marcus mentioned two others in the conversation. So this isn’t just about “his” players, the point was to elevate the necessity of our collective, donors or whatever to understand in todays game, players want to get what their peers are getting and currently ours aren’t. Coaches have to worry about the portal because kids want to play in a bigger leagues and also because they want some cash. Coaches play talented freshmen, allow them to make all types of mistakes because if you don’t play them they will leave. NIL is just another part of the equation.

Seems like this thread stopped being about the game and became more about some off-center Murray State fan and a couple of people who don't enjoy watching basketball. Just sayin', maybe it needs to be moved to its own thread. Then again, Twitter.
NIL = the NIL thread.

Anyone watch the game on TV? Like they say, watch the film. Coaches always watch the game later that night or the next day. When they do, they we realize this wasn’t entirely on the guys. I’d say this was 65/70% coaches fault. There was no offensive system in the first half. If someone knows what we run or are known for let me know. We can either want guys to do their solo thing or attempt to run plays. Neither happened first half. How about finding something that works and going back to it over and over again? Even when Ben is playing, it’s just him deciding when he wants to shoot or assert himself. Then on defense, as some has mentioned, we always give up the 3 ball, when we play zone or man. It’s crazy. There was numerous plays that I don’t think anyone was guarding anyone. That’s coaches, that’s the position they’re putting them in or allowing them to stay in. Finally, the rotations. It’s clear several guys shouldn’t be in at the same time. You can’t have 3 guys who don’t like to pass or wants iso action in the game at the same time. Cam was 50% shooter last year. Probably because he had plays called for him and got open shots. Now he’s just hoping a guy passes it to him when he’s open. The few plays he gets it’s off a staggered screen with a bad pass coming to him. Guys looked bad yesterday. 12 turnovers in the first half is horribe, especially the style of those turnovers. But the seconds half was actually worse. There are games that we can squarely blame the players and there are games we need to blame the coaches as well. +1000

daddysboy: "Just to be clear; Wilson’s “guys” are Kenny, Chuck and Ben"
Just to be clear, Wilson didn't specify who his guys are or that he even had guys to call his own. His cryptic tweet was shrouded in secrecy, wrapped in generalities. Coupled with his somber slide out of town, he did make it easy to extrapolate so I did just that. I'm not at all surprised that you know the specifics. Thanks for clearing that up.

I think it's time to sit Strawbridge, Thomas and keep Bobe on the bench. Where is Jackson and why isn't he given a chance to play? While Ben is out, I'd start Hughes, Toumi, Bailey, Cuff and Haffner.

I agree with the latter part of this but keeping Bobe on the bench isn't necessarily a good thing Right now you can deduct 12 points from the Aces score from yesterday. Gage has worked hard for the team and when he came in the flow got a 100% better. Bobe criticism isn't warranted and is unhealthy to this forum. But there is free speech as of now in this country.

I didn’t see one coach shoot a brick yesterday, but I saw brick after brick to the point that guys were afraid to shoot. I just don’t believe that the Coaches that have done an excellent job all year, just all of sudden don’t or can’t coach the last few games. When you can’t hit an open shot it makes everyone look bad.

We really miss Humrichous. He's a settling force offensively as he's our best create your own shot guy and at his size he's often able to shoot over any defender along the perimeter. Defensively he does a really good job of blocking shots around the rim, cleaning up any breakdown. Until we get him back, we are going to struggle offensively as he allows us to better space the floor, defenses must respect his shot which allows more room for the backdoor actions, Cuff post ups, and space for guys get catch and shoot 3s.
I thought we started the game very passive offensively, trying to make the perfect pass to get the perfect shot which led to a lot of late in the shot clock low quality looks. As good as Toumi has been over the last few games both Cuff and Hughes have taken a step back, which isn't to be completely unexpected as Valley teams will be able to match up with the size of those guys better than some of the non-conference opponents. We also need to get Cam more true catch and shoots in the offense, there's a huge difference in his percentage when he's coming off a curl, typically near the top of the key vs catching and shooting. It looks like he's still twisting on the release on that curl up top. Early 2nd half he got a kick out from the corner and buried it. Gotta get him going from deep at some point and hopefully Bobe hitting some late 3s will get his jumper going as well as we need either one of those guys to be a can't leave for the defense or they pay to alleviate some space for everyone else.
We were a mess last season and as disappointing as it was watching the place empty out with a few minutes left, we are in a far better place today than a year ago. It's not easy dragging a program from the depths of not just The Valley but the entirety of D-I, which is where we were last season. The only positives from yesterday is that there is justifiable frustration in the way we played yesterday and that nearly 8,000 tickets were sold. This community cares......correction STILL CARES about the Aces and wants them to be successful and support the program. The history of Aces basketball is special but it hasn't been special in quite some time and anyone under 40 remembers a lot of losing and not much else.
Valley play isn't easy as our guys are learning the hard way but if you can compete in this league, you can play with anyone in the country.....that's what The Valley has proven time and time again in March, if you're good enough to survive this test you are a special team. We aren't there yet but we are much closer than we were a year ago and even as disappointing as it was to lay an egg at home in front of a large crowd, we weren't going from 5-27 to 27-5 overnight. Sitting at 10-5 is an improvement and there's a ton of the season left to play, each night a chance to continue to show the program is trending to contend in the MVC and beyond. That's the growth we all wanted this summer and as much as it sucks to be disappointed with yesterday the fact we are having those feelings after a game this season is progress in the big picture .

Anyone have a clue what this crazy Murray chick is triggered about? The only proper way would have been if Tommy had pronounced it "Whiner" All he does is prance and whine on the sidelines. I guess destroying a Big 12 program will do that to you. Hell if I know. I had her blocked on Twitter. She's one of those people that things the way people act in reality TV shows is how people are actually supposed to behave IRL.

How dare Murray State! After all, the Aces DID show up in their jerseys and take the floor. That was very embarrassing and pitiful to watch in person today. It appeared UE thought they could just show up, flaunt their big crowd, and then expect Murray State to just hand the win over to them. The Aces played horrible ... bad passes, lots of perimeter passing/dribbling (taking pages from the Lickliter playbook), and, for the most part, they couldn't get near the rim. Murray State was very energetic and had a swarming defense. We couldn't do anything right today. Absolutely NO Ace on the floor being a leader, either. No leadership or "go to" guy. Also ... thank goodness Murray State missed several layups and open looks, or else it could have been much more of a beat down. That's how I felt watching the Racers every game until the last three. Getting waxed in back to back games and the holiday break seems to have woken something up in the Racers and they look like a completely different team.

Need to give Murray credit. They played tough defense and doubled down when the ball went inside. They also were hitting their shots including some with a man in their face. The Aces will have problems with quick teams. Lack of quickness is obvious for the Aces with Bailey being our quickest player and it is obvious the hand is giving him problems shooting and controlling the ball. Also without Ben our Big Ben can be pushed around inside. The 'small' lineup with Prohm went to at 13:06 in the 2nd put Y'all on your heels. Justin Morgan subbed in for Sam Murray and Alden Applewhite moved to the 5 with Rob Perry, Brian Moore, and Jacobi Wood. They went +4 over 2:46
Quincy Anderson subbed in for Perry at 11:20 leaving the fastest and best 5 individual defenders on the floor and they went +10 over the next 3:15 second span. Wood Moore Perry Morgan Applewhite were back together later at 5:05 to close things out and went +4 again over the next 3:03 before Prohm waved them off for the final 2 minutes. I don't think that those lineups have seen game action together for Murray.
I think y'all had Humrichous the game would have looked a lot different.
