There was obviously a big discrepancy on fouls, but watching the game, I would say we earned most of them. What I liked was that we kept battling and did not fold. Last year's team would have got down by 20 points and then go on to lose by 35. +100

Coach Ragland spoke about the physical play in The Valley, and how that was proven to us tonight... and how the refs let it happen. The only catch to that is that only the Bears were allowed to play that way. We got called for a foul every time down the court. Yes, some were valid, but it seemed that the calls went only one way. Hard to win a game when one team is standing at the free throw line almost all of the 2nd half! I didn't think we looked very connected tonight, nor did we seem to have much fight in us till the last few minutes of the game, and we probably wouldn't have won because of that. Yet, I think the way the fouls were called made us less aggressive on our end.
Oh, well, we learned a good lesson - we're only a real good team when we play hard, and are aggressive with our defense and rebounding - and I'll add our aggressiveness toward the basket and making good choices on our shots.....but that free-throw discrepancy took the fight out of us in my opinion. Time to get back on the winning track and win on Sat. And let's get the Bears when they come to the Ford. What we saw there tonight is always what happens when you go to Missouri State...seems to happen every time!

We were outplayed at every aspect of the game,Bears played great defense, shot the ball well, and beat us to every loose ball.Plus their speed and athleticism was far more superior than us.

I will say, the ineptitude of this officiating crew was on full display when Lee and Chuck got arms tangled when Chuck was trying to steal the ball (legitimate foul), they went to the monitor to figure out if it should be an intentional foul (was actually surprised they didn’t call it with that crew last night), and then called the foul on Kenny!!!!
While the boys never quit, I see last night as exactly what we all knew already. Since Ford has taken over as coach, MSU has seemed to chatter and play rough. And this officiating crew let it happen, and the end result was nearly a fight on a hard foul when going for the ball mentioned above. (Watch that sequence again, Lee was “fouled” like 5 straight trips down the floor). After that, they finally started calling fouls on Mo. St., but it was too late. Off they called them the entire game (not just half), I guarantee that several bears are fouled out last night.

I never want to blame a loss on the refs and we did plenty of things last night to lose that game. However, ad is right on track with this. Missouri State played 6 guys. If Pollard and crew had called things evenly, the 2nd half would have looked completely different with their short bench. I have never understood why this league has so much confidence in Pollard.

Valley refs are low-hanging fruit for a pretty good reason. Over the seasons past, even when the Aces were under-talented, the officials made the game about themselves. The first 10 or so ticky-tack fouls don't seem to matter in the first half but by the middle of the second half, you add on a couple more and suddenly your defense has to stand flat-footed or get DQ'd. The game has changed and officials have a tough job. But they also need to understand how/why the game has changed. Hand check fouls are just stupid. Spending 5 minutes at the review monitor should have been managed by the NCAA. It hasn't been.

after the first loss, expect lineup changes, I dont ecpect to see Haffner starting the rest of the MVC schedule. Hi is now at best our 5th guard, behind Thomas, Bailey, Cuff and Bobe. Yes Gage, actually way behind.Bobe plays much better D, shoots as well, stronger, hustles more, older and MVC battle tested. After 7 games, compare the stats.

To me the key points for this team are going to be keeping teams off the offensive boards and not turning the ball over. If we can do those two things I think we can be in a lot of Valley games. The problem tonight is we didn't do either. The first half offensive rebounding hurt us and the early part of the 2nd half it was turnovers.
I like our movement better on offense this year. I like a lot of our players. We just need to stick to trusting our teammates and not forcing things. We do need to continue to look to get shots in the paint. That's been a big strength for us.
Just need to learn from this and move on. At least the players now understand the physicality of this conference and what it's going to take to win games. Let's get a big crowd Saturday and get it back on track!

I am in no way discouraged by last night's performance. Last year's team gets blown out in this one. Cuff is my favorite player, sees the court so well. Makes good decisions with few mistakes. The sky's the limit for Chuck Bailey. Oh my goodness. Strong, quick, shooter, driver. Aggressive defender. Too aggressive at times. His game will just get better with experience. I never like to project players into the next level but he could find himself in the NBA.

It looks like I can’t miss another game this year as they are still undefeated when I’ve watched them (live). 😀

MS got away playing their usual thug basketball. But consider who was calling the game. Don't remember his name I call him curly, don't know why. He calls a lot of MVC games. He has always had a thing against UE. I sure hope Lee's wrist is ok it sure got him a bunch of free throws with him rubbing it and laying on the ground. Welcome to the MVC boys, it's a 1 loss, learn from it and grow from it. Did I read someone pay Bobe a complement? What is up with that. Bailey is getting better, he still needs the game to come to him and not force things all the time but much improved. Cuff is a baller. Ben,Josh the rest of team had a really off night. Let's get UNI Saturday boys. Go Aces!!!!

Hope Aces fans respond to this team's efforts resulting in a total turnaround from the past few seasons. I estimate 5k+, although I feel these Aces are worthy of 7K+. Stay tuned, sports fans!
