Oral Robert’s comes back to beat TCU 6-5 in game one of the college World Series. ORU was down 5-2 heading into the top of the ninth and scored four runs to pull out the victory. ORU’s #9 hitter crushes a 93 mph fastball that was right down the middle of the plate waist high for a three run home run with one out in the ninth to put them up. www.espn.com/college-baseball/game/_/gameId/401553517Florida and Virginia is starting shortly. The other four teams play tomorrow at one and 6 PM.

Their team BA is .323, which is unreal. .940 team OPS ... holy hammerin'. TCU's Taylor is considered one of the best bets to go in the top 25. He is listed as a junior but that might be administrative. Teel, the catcher for UVA, might go in the first 10 picks. LSU could get the first two players drafted -- Paul Skenes, pitcher, and Dylan Crews, outfielder. I have not seen if any Valley players are in the top 100 prospects.

…I have not seen if any Valley players are in the top 100 prospects. Spencer Nivens of Missouri State is the highest rated MVC player that I am aware of at #113. I did not see ISU’s Fenlong in the top 200. Not sure what other MVC players might be in the conversation for being drafted. www.mlb.com/prospects/draft/Note: Click on the player’s name for more information. Niven’s draft ceiling is projected as late third round.

He could end up in the 8th or 9th round, which gets him a spot in Single-A ball. If he succeeds there, the High-A is probably where he belongs. To be brutally honest, if he can throw strikes, he'd fit right in this year in Triple-A, which has become a steaming joke.

TCU has found a way to stay alive.
There are some really top prospects in this tournament. And crowds of 25,000 are proof that it matters.

The Wake-LSU game was one for the ages. Neither team deserved to lose. Wake 3-2 with a late run. I don't think a 50K seat stadium would have been big enough.
Burns, the reliever for Tenn, made Stanford look bad. He is a junior relieving a guy Dollander who might be one of the top 10 draft picks. Floyd for LSU, isn't as good as Skenes -- but not by much. Hartle is a premium lefty for Wake Forest -- not their ace.
Times are Eastern, Omaha isn't Eastern

Florida is in hog heaven. LSU used its best pitchers. I imagine they have plenty left but there are no surprises.

Tough loss for the Wake closer. His only pitch in the game becomes a walk off home run for LSU.
I still remember the time in 5th grade basketball, I stole the inbound pass, but missed the layup that would of given us a last second win and on to the championship game.

According to ESPN, these teams have never met in regular season. They are in the same conference. I assume they have met in tournaments. No idea on pitching, but it wouldn't matter if we knew. I think Wardrep for the Floridas is going to be drafted in the first round. I assume he's their Saturday guy. Sproat is pretty ba-dass. Jac Caglianone is a rare 2-way guy ... a starting pitcher with 31 home runs. He's a junior. Lankford definitely IS a first-round draft choice, maybe in the top 5. These teams are so deep -- watching the Aces and being pretty excited about them and realizing, the power of Southern baseball and the money they throw at it -- we need to lower our guns a little. Still, it's a great sport to watch in the spring. Best-of-three series Game 1: 7 p.m., Saturday on ESPN Game 2: 3 p.m., Sunday on ESPN Game 3 (if necessary): 7 p.m., Monday on ESPN

College pitchers throwing 97 mph regularly now. What's the next threshold? 88 for Little League?
LSU might have the edge.
