If that's not an intentional dig at UE, it's completely tone deaf.

Of course it’s a dig. We need to stop making excuses for him at this point. Don’t be naive.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I agree with Larry on this one. Call it naïve or whatever you want but I think people’s tendency is to find fault and make things a bigger deal than they are a lot of times without knowing the facts.
I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, unless there are indisputable facts. There’s nothing more here than circumstantial speculation.
But again we will probably never know 100%.
No more comments for me on this subject unless more information becomes available.

When someone feels that way about the college coaching profession, it can be very understandable.
When someone runs to Twitter X and takes a personal issue that should be private and makes it public, someone is a little too self-absorbed or they are deflecting or both.

I've followed Marcus on Twitter/X since before he came on staff. I also stated my surprise that he would even consider being on staff here. I believe he is pursuing his true passion now. Anything that may have occurred only fueled his realization that coaching D1 basketball wasn't his long term plan. Time to let it go.

Wilson doesn't want to be a D-1 ***assistant*** is more like it. It's odd that he's been around the game in so many ways that he'd arrive at this epiphany. What did he think his job would be? In any case, I am beginning to see that he didn't mesh very well with Ragland or perhaps Ziggy or Snow. Could be, what he was promised when he signed on changed -- or maybe the real problem isn't Marcus Wilson. I'd like to see some genuine adult behavior from former UE staffers fairly soon, because the Walt-Logan-Marcus-Disgruntled.Athlete-Dru Smith-Kenneth Roy shadow is blocking all the sunlight. FFS, the other 11 programs in the Valley aren't waiting around for the Aces to emerge from the cellar. Nothing is wrong with the truck. It's the driver who matters.

A follow up tweet doesn't do anything to clear the speculation, but I do think it is clear some things happened in the last year, (where and who we have no idea) and that he does want there to be public speculation for some reason.
The sad part for me is regardless of what is going on, this another beloved former player whose star is dimming around our program.

The sad part for me is regardless of what is going on, this another beloved former player whose star is dimming around our program. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt that he got out because the grind of coaching/recruiting constantly, being away from family, and the toll of a horrible losing season got to him based on the original tweet, but that follow up tweet makes it pretty clear imo that there was definitely some sort of rift between him and the staff/program that developed. At least we won’t have to speculate on him leaving for a P5 job with John anymore, but it does seem there will always be a negative cloud around his departure now.

David Ragland is a man of good character. I would put the entire staff in this category. I’m siding with David on this one. David expects his staff to do what’s in the best interest of the team. My suspicion is that Marcus had other thoughts in mind.

My suspicion is that Marcus had other thoughts in mind. My guess is that he did not appreciate him going on official visits with John when they were still recruiting hard in the portal. The Florida visit in mid April should’ve been a massive red flag to all of us.

A guy opens up the conversation on Twitter and engages fans, but then says there are things about it that he can't divulge on Twitter. That invites suspicion. Alas, people being human and miscasting their own situation isn't rare. I am going to assume that he didn't fit Ragland's philosophy after he got to UE, not that he wanted to mold it before he got there. Wilson knows how a coaching system is set up. To that end, Ragland's job is to win at UE. His assistants and his players are all aware of that.

Agree with you on this one.
If you are emotionally intelligent, you don't make a, "some I shouldn't speak about on X" type of statement. He should of ended the tweet at, "several factors involved" (in his decision.)

I'd say he needs to stop calling people idiots. Most of us are quite over this issue by now.
