Checked his Twitter page out today for the first time in a while. I noticed he was involved in a four car accident in St. Louis. Came out unscathed. One thing I did notice is that he hasn’t tweeted anything out since April 20th about Aces basketball. Didn’t retweet the last two commitments either. Seems kind of strange since he was doing that before.

I don't think that this means anything. If you go to his "likes," you'll see a different story.

Remember this? My intuition said at the time something was up. Marcus stopped tweeting anything Aces after Craig Snow got that promotion. Pretty sure he got his feelings hurt. I honestly don’t think long term this will be a huge loss. There’s a long long list of great former players who didn’t make great coaches.

Please stop with the nonsense.
Marcus is one of the classiest guys there is. He most definitely has had a positive impact on the program as a player and as a coach laying down the foundation for future success of the program.

So why is he leaving and where is he going? Hate to see a former Ace leave for any reason but if for something bigger and better wish him the best. Always a Purple Ace is Marcus Wilson.

IBleedPurple, he has not said yet.
However, he wouldn’t leave his “dream job” of coaching at his alma mater for just any job. I’m sure we will find out soon.
Speculation: It likely has to do with helping his son, John Bol, navigate the recruiting process and possibly go with him. But that is speculation but it does make sense.
Either way, Marcus is a class act and we wish him and his family nothing but the best. Hopefully in the future, we will see him again on staff or helping out in any capacity at UE but for now let’s wish him the best.

I believe being a D1 assistant coach wasn't what Marcus thought it would be.Its very time consuming.I also don't believe he will end up at another school,if he does then it was because of Craig's promotion.I always noticed that Marcus wasn't very vocal on the sidelines last year.

I don’t think there’s any jealousy or hard feelings over the promotion. Your intuition was definitely right though. Looking back on it, it was definitely a little strange that he was spending all that time on official visits with John during critical transfer portal recruiting periods that he should’ve been hosting visits on campus for. I don’t think his family ever moved to Evansville with him. My guess is that it was a lot harder to spend a year away from your family than he was anticipating, and being the family man that he is, he decided it’s best for him and his family to be reunited in St Louis. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up next. I’m sure he will still be a strong supporter of the program from afar.

not good news for the program, will await his official statement, if one is forthcoming. my take is the inability to recruit better athletes, especially from the portal, after getting an NAIA, a D2, and an OVC transfer. My take is perhaps disagreements.

For those surmising it had something to do with Snow or Roosevelt getting new titles, I would say it is more likely those promotions were in place because Rags was already aware of Marcus' plans going forward. They are tight and there is no way with Marcus' character that he would get "snubbed" and abruptly bolt. Whatever he is planning has been in the works and I am sure Rags has been in the loop.
Marcus has been a 100% asset to this program since the day he signed to play for Crews. I don't see that changing going forward.

I agree 100% E-Villan. There is no way Marcus would do anything to undermine the success of UE. I think he probably realized that the sacrifices of being an assistant coach were huge.
Even though he was offered, John Bol was never coming to UE. I’m sure Marcus looked at that and decided he was not willing to miss most of John’s college career. I’m sure this was discussed in detail with Coach Rags.
As for the promotions of the other Assistants, I imagine Rags decided with Marcus decision to leave it was the perfect time to recognize their value to the program and lock them in.
The replacement hire will be interesting. Will it be someone with inroads to portal transfers, prep schools, regional high schools, big city high schools or even a D-2 coach looking to move to D-1. Coach Rags needs to build a coaching team as much as a playing team.

Sorry to see Marcus leave but this is not overly surprising. I was honestly a little bit surprised (and thrilled) when he came here in the first place. His family is still in St. Louis, he has other irons in the fire, and the life of an assistant coach is exhausting to say the least. Add to this helping John Bol navigate the recruiting process and there just isn't enough time. I'm glad he was on the staff if just for a year and I wish him all the best.

You guys realize, this opens the door for Lottich to come on as an assistant coach. Excellent recruiter, and charismatic guy. He would definitely be an excellent choice to replace Marcus, and would be my choice, if I had one here.
