Boykin would be a serviceable addition for 1 year at PG if Ragland could get the commitment.
Scored 9.9 ppg in 23 minutes per game this season. Player in 25 games. 32% from 3point line. Looks like he would be 6th year senior from class of 2017.

I don’t know if Boykin is the answer but an experienced PG like him is what we need at that position until normal recruiting can properly fill the slot. I don’t think with our current roster we have anyone ready to run the team against the likes of BYU or the other high profile team yet to be announced not to mention the Valley teams. We are a year or more away from developing that position. I’m sure there are other PGs they have contacted for the same reasons.

Solid offensive game. Would be a great addition, and I think he could potentially be our leading scorer next year if he were to commit.

He a 6-1 grad student. Hopefully we have a grad program that he is interested in. His FG% and assist numbers are not the best but his per 40 minute numbers in the other areas seem to be solid. As Kentucky Ace pointed out he has only one year at the D1 level. Hopefully it works out and is a good fit for both him and us. Would be a pretty nice opportunity for him and we definitely need an experienced point guard.

Would be a great opportunity for Boykin to showcase his skills with a ton of PT. Looks like App St recruited over him with portal xfer at pg.

Boykin has played well against solid competition. Held his own at Wake Forest. Highlight video shows a lot of quickness and the ability to create his shot. Boykin’s 3-pt percentage is not as good as I would like but his videos show he shoots from long distance. At UE he shouldn’t be taking those shots.
Will UE pursue Tyree to the point of an offer? Who knows but he shows me he could give some leadership to next years team.

His 3 point % isn’t as great as you would like, but he was a high volume 3 point shooter and made and took more per game than anyone on our team. He went on average 1.8-5.5 for three per game. Improve his shot selection just a little bit to get that to 1.8-5 per game and that is a very good 3 point shooting percentage for a volume shooter. I think he will provide some shooting that we desperately need.

I am more interested in seeing players who know how to read a defense, can move the ball without dribbling all over the place. Aces had 3 or 4 guys last year who stood around waiting for the dribble-aholics to get them the ball. Then when they got it, they found a hand in their face. You don't win games showing off your dribbling skills. You win games by scoring baskets.

He looks like a very crafty dribbler/lane explorer that is not afraid to split defenders and has a good floater shot. He could be a good experienced transition PG with a higher ceiling than Marvin had last season.

I guess it is too much to ask for a PG that can dish out assist along with 10ppg...a Yuri Collins type? Hard to find those type of players anymore.

We had a guard who would penetrate the lane, but he left, his name was Gabe. That guard also couldn’t shoot to save his life and he really didn’t penetrate the lane more than once or twice a game most games. This guy can actually do everything that some of our fan base wanted to pretend Gabe could
