He was a 32% shooter from beyond the arc and an overall 38% shooter in his only year of D1....not very good. He was a very good player his last year at Union U at the D2 level but seemed to be a high volume shooter to score his points. That's fine, but do we want a 1 year rental, high volume shooter taking lots of shots and playmaking away from our incoming freshman recruits who we want to build the program for the next 3-4 years?

I personally want someone who can get the ball in the bucket to help us win some more games next year to hopefully elevate the program and help future recruiting. Someone that’s a little more efficient and has higher assist totals would be more ideal, but were not exactly in the position to be super selective right now. I’m not sold on Tanner or Braylon being immediate contributors, and I think having a one year stop gap to allow them to develop in practice and have a bigger role next year after some development would be beneficial to the program. Based on Rags saying he wants a veteran guard to Anthony, I think the staff shares the same sentiment.

We had a guard who would penetrate the lane, but he left, his name was Gabe. That guard also couldn’t shoot to save his life and he really didn’t penetrate the lane more than once or twice a game most games. This guy can actually do everything that some of our fan base wanted to pretend Gabe could Apparently Tyree doesn't shoot well from 3 either, and he is a 3 or 4 year player where's Gabe was only a Freshman.

They have the same %, but he had 50% more makes from 3 than gabe even had attempts. He attempted 5 times as many 3s as Gabe did. If Gabe shot at that volume, he’d probly have a 3 point percent less than 15%. I could be wrong, but I don’t really remember Gabe ever hitting a strongly contested 3 like Tyree does multiple times in the highlights. Most of Gabes 3s were pretty open looks from my recollection and the few he put in his highlight video. Tyree can also create his own shot a hell of a lot better than Gabe could. We didn’t have 3 years to wait for Gabe to develop, and Ragland didn’t want him or he’d probly still be here. This fan base needs to move on from him.

I guess it is too much to ask for a PG that can dish out assist along with 10ppg...a Yuri Collins type? Hard to find those type of players anymore. The definition of an assist is also a 21st century joke. Tossing a ball overe to a guy in the corner who hits a 3-point shot is not an assist. It's a pass to a guy who got open. Officially, it's an assist. Caitlin Clark dishes out assists.

I’m not going to talk down Gabe. He’s gone now. We desperately needed to upgrade our guard play and his scholarship is now available for our coaching staff to find that upgrade.
