I'm assuming that the coaches are trying to upgrade the schedule as well as the team. This is much better than a SWAC team.

The article mentions that they’re working their coaching ties to get games across the country in areas they’re recruiting. Considering Craig’s New Mexico ties and our recent recruiting efforts out there, I’m guessing there’s a good chance we play New Mexico or NMSU in the future. Hopefully we can get a home & home with New Mexico since the mountain west is a league on par with the MVC.

NMS, most likely a mess, is going into CUSA, ordinarily a pretty sweet deal considering how their conference fared in the tournaments. But that doesn't seem like much of an upgrade game, at least at the moment. Grand Canyon would be a better one. The Lobos, conversely, would be a nice H-H series.

It still beats the hell out of scheduling a home and home with Eastern Illinois or Tennessee Tech though imo.

I’m not too concerned. You take the games where you can get them.

Good points. It still beats the hell out of scheduling a home and home with Eastern Illinois or Tennessee Tech though imo. Sadly, there was a time when a H-H with EIU should have, could have been pretty competitive. College basketball tripped over a lot of really good regional rivalries in its quest to find bigger dollars from advertisers who couldn't find these universities if they had a trained guide dog. Tenn. Tech never raised my interest but there are plenty of schools in that area that could generate a lot of fan enthusiasm. While New Mexico is a good place to play, it doesn't do much for the fans. All the same, games that are worth playing. I don't know for sure if I were asked what's the perfect non-con schedule. All of us agree the Aces should be playing some teams that are easy to identify. Some others in various parts of the country, as Ragland implies, places where he wants his program to get some eyeballs-on exposure. It's a big place, the United States.

Would like to see Western Kentucky and Xavier every year. ....add Butler With Rags Butler connections that might be more likely than it was a couple of years ago. Probably some reluctance on their part to give us a home and home series especially after we beat them in their Final Four years.

And their program is down pretty bad lately and I don’t think Thad is going to fix it. If we can get back into the top half of the MVC, I think we would give them a pretty good ball game and potentially beat them.

Would like to see Western Kentucky and Xavier every year. Western should absolutely be a reoccurring home and home. Xavier’s probably only ever going to be a buy game now that they’re regularly a top 25 team sadly, and I doubt they’d want to keep us on the schedule every year. I’m all for playing them as much as they’ll have us though

I could care less if we ever played Butler again to be honest. Would much rather have the WKU, Xavier and possibly St.Louis rivalries again.
