As previously mentioned, after his September 2022 visit I bumped into him at the DFW airport and he said Evansville was at the top of his list. At the time he said that he likely would wait a year before making a commitment (since he was just starting his junior season). So if he reopens his commitment I would suspect that we would have a shot.

Based upon the “it’s time to reset the program” I would have to think the entire staff will be let go and Dylan will likely reopen his commitment. As a NM kid, I’d think he would give the next staff their fair shot too, but it would only make sense to reopen your recruitment at this point.

FWIW, the AD might wind up being collateral damage in this. Mario Moccia, formerly AD at SIU.

Interesting. Seems like his heart is in New Mexico and it’ll be hard to pry him away unless they completely whiff on the hire.

Chavez hasn't gotten the NIL money he's hoping to get and is going to hold off until he has no choice. When the right offers don't come, he will sign on at Northern Rocky Mountain State Teachers College -- Provo branch until he proves he's worth at least a 2-year-old Hyundai. Why would he hang out there? They have no coach and most likely don't even be permitted into CUSA until they replace the whole staff.

So, the plan was to graduate this year, enter a year early, and redshirt for the season.
Not real sure that has worked out for too many people.

I'm starting to think he might make this decision without us.

I think you’re right on that and it’s worked out well for him. I think the success rate is heavily dependent on the mental & physical maturity of the kid going into their senior year in HS. Dylan’s the first midmajor I’ve ever heard of doing this though. Anyone know of any others?

Not a MM, but Kristian Lander.

We all saw how it worked out for Lander. I do not think he even starts or plays a lot at WKU. He was overrated and Archie Miller at IU did him zero favors in allowing him to skip his senior season and go to IU. He should have stayed in high school and gotten stronger to improve his chances for more playing time and maturity. What a shame.

Seems to me Dylan has fell in love with a school and not a coach. I'm sure they will probably go through some type of NCAA penalties.
