Sorry but this kid is a pass - I’m sure Idaho doesn’t have a lot of 6’11” players in their high schools or travel teams to compete against or to challenge him physically. With that being said, how does he average less than 10 ppg and less than 10 rpg?
Why are the D1 teams in Idaho, Montana, the Dakotas, etc not offering?
6’11” players are usually verbally committed by now but he essentially has no offers….why?

BBaljunkie, I understand your reaction, and I don't blame you. He has major project written all over him. That said, I have seen it before, especially in the MVC, when a kid has no or few other D-1 offers and ends up doing a lot more than expected. I recall when Dan Godfried had no other offers except for Lewis University and he ended up an all conference player. Given the stature of the players that have been offered by the current coaching staff, this offer is a bit strange looking. But the staff obviously sees something in him. I guess what raises my eyes the most, honestly, are this recurit's low averages in both scoring and rebounding. On the surface, I say "pass" as well.....but I love our coaching staff and I guess we have to trust their judgement. But clearly, in my mind, they are putting themselves "on the spot" with this type of recruit.

There is a lot to like about this kid! (If you based your opinion on an 8 sec clip and some stats, consider digging in deeper)
Moves well, shoots it, runs the floor
Who knows, maybe there were Seniors on the team that wanted to shoot it every time (I’ve seen strange things in small town teams)
Plus, if his stats were gaudier, we wouldn’t have a chance.

From what I've seen and read about the staff, there are 5 coaches scouring the country and abroad for the best players for UE. Three coaches have western US experience. Then there is St. Louis and Indy represented too. In Rags et al I trust.

We have 2 6’10” sophomores he can sit behind and learn the speed of the game. Just remember, UE has had a few big men that couldn’t walk and chew gum at the same time when they got here and turned into some really good players.

I don't disagree at all of what you are writing and need no reminding. UE and many other schools rarely get freshmen bigs who are D1 ready. Hopefully they can develop and by the time they are juniors can make a significant impact. Maybe Day can be that type of guy if chooses UE. You can see more highlites of him on HUDL.

He doesn't trip over himself running down the floor. Big E was a project and turned out to be a great player for UE. I would take him and make him.

Big E was never a project. He was a pretty darn good player from the get go, and continued to develop extremely well. He played significant minutes from the time he arrived. Now that said, Dan Godfried was indeed a project...He did not receive one other d1 offer except UE. He played very little his first first year and even into his second. What we witnessed in him was a guy who put in the work and received great coaching that got him to the point he actually made an NBA roster for a day.

I meant it in the fact that he had to learn setting picks. He didn't really look comfortable his first year.

Haha I actually thought you were talking about Emir Turam (which dates me) - he was a great guy and a good but not great player for the Aces. He was more of a project than Egidius. But the point stands that 7 footers don’t come along every day and are often projects.
