PIAA 4A: Adewale leads Neumann-Goretti into state championship game www.cityofbasketballlove.com/news_article/show/1265604“…the Neumann-Goretti forward continued to appear again and again to grab a missed shot off the glass and score. Adewale nearly had a double-double in the third quarter alone in a dominant second half effort that helped send the Saints back to Hershey... The 6-foot-8 forward posted 15 points, 14 rebounds, an assist and five blocks and totally took over the game in the third quarter with nine points and nine rebounds... Neumann-Goretti will play in the Class 4A title game Friday night at 8 p.m. against WPIAL power Lincoln Park.” “I want to end my senior year with a state championship,” Adewale said. “We talk about ending on the right note and that’s what I feel we’ll do.”

Back in September, we were reportedly one of 5 schools he was hearing from the most. By late February, we were not one of the 7 he was hearing from the most. Do we have any indication that he has serious interest in UE? We could really use somebody like him, but it feels like we as fans are putting a lot of hope in Sultan without much evidence he has real interest in us.

He has a lot of good schools recruiting him. I’m guessing that since he was in the St. Louis area before Pennsylvania that he might have a connection with Marcus from those days. I also noticed that only SMU was on both the September five team list and the February seven team list. So he may have primarily been listing either new teams recruiting him and/or the teams at that moment recruiting him hard. Of course, all the above is primarily speculation. Verbalcommits lists us as one of 14 schools that have offered him. Most are big time schools (including Big 12, ACC, and SEC teams. Chuck Bailey III was being recruited by Kansas and Illinois, so why not us? But it definitely won’t be easy. We should know some time between now and mid-May with the spring signing period starting in April 12th and running through May 17th. verbalcommits.com/players/sultan-adewale

I see where Sultan started the first ten games for Iona and has come off the bench in the last six games. He is averaging 3.4 ppg and 3.4 rpg and a block a game. All this in only 14.6 minutes a game. ionagaels.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/sultan-adewale/7241I’m guessing that he would have been slotted in front of Sekou in the rotation but doubt that he would have beaten out Ben, Yacine, or Josh. Sultan committed to Iona on May 6th. Then Gui visited on May 16th and we offer and he commits two days later. Of course, the verdict is still out on Gui with him redshirting

This would be another good pickup for us. I would think we would have a good chance with the relationships that we built with him last year. He would be a welcome addition. 15 starts in 33 games played. Averaged 14.1 mpg and 3 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 22 blocks. You could likely see these numbers double if his playing time went up. 60% of his rebounds are offensive rebounds. 3-star prospect with a lot of big-time schools interested in him after high school. Definitely has good rebounding instincts. Hopefully we hear something soon. 247sports.com/Recruitment/sultan-adewale-144217/RecruitInterests/
