Based on our recent offer and visit of Gui Tesch, I’m going to assume that Joey has told the staff he’s not interested after reopening his recruitment.

With over 50 schools interested in Joey, we are probably hedging our bets. No reason for us not to continue to recruit unless we have a definite commitment from Joey.

Some of these kids make major mistakes by filling out a P5 roster where they may get 10 minutes a game tops. Malik Reneau from IU is a good example. He was like a top 10 high school player five star and still only saw 10 to 15 minutes a game as a freshman . If Joey was smart, he would go to UE. It’s perfect for him. Unfortunately, these young kids don’t see the forest through the trees most of the time lol.

Don’t think Malik qualifies as “filling out a roster”. He was playing behind two seniors ans a freshman and is going to be the starter this year. If Joey were to get a late offer from IU and commit, that would be filling out a roster, but I don’t think he’ll have a lot of high level interest like that. Hopefully he’s smart enough to not get drawn in by a big name and go to a school like Ball State or UE where he could get PT immediately.

I'm sure we don't have a chance on Joey, that is if we are actively recruiting him.He will be a bench warmer at a power 5 school and possibly a 5 minute player for a MVC team his freshman year.

Hell be more than a 5 minute player on the majority of MVC teams. I agree though, we probably don’t have a chance. Sad that we made his top 4 before this staff had ever coached a game, but after watching the offense on the court last season and the resultd, I doubt we’re getting a serious look this time around. I think your original theory of Ball State or Butler has a good chance of happening.

I am interested in knowing the discussions each school has with him about NIL money.

What I meant to say, and what I should have worded better was that even a guy of his caliber could still only find 10-15 minutes a game. He was definitely not a roster filler.

Reliable source told me today that Joey has it narrowed to either Ball State or ISUblue. Apparently, he's already turned down ND and Butler.

That’s interesting since neither were on his original list of schools. Sounds like UE didn’t go all out on the second go around??

When he decommitted we still had an opening.

When he decommitted we still had an opening. You are correct. Not getting him stings a bit. Do we know if Marcus was the point person on his recruitment? That might explain why we are not in consideration now.
