I'm wondering if Scott Spinelli will be the next AHC named. He would be a great hire as well. I’m not sure we can afford him though. He’s used to making close to as much as Rags likely is as HC and will probably have P5 interest that could pay him a salary he is accustomed to. I’ve thought all afternoon about the potential of hiring Scott Spinelli as the last assistant. After reading lots of posts about his coaching and recruiting skills it’s easy to see why he might be in demand around the country. However, I come back to the possibility of coaching his son over the next 4 years. This only occurs once in a lifetime. As for his affordability we know the cost of living is definitely much lower in Evansville than where he lives now. Adding another terrific recruiter seems like a no brainer, but if it isn’t to be Coach Rags has a short list of coaches to contact for the job I’m sure. Anyway this has been such a great Spring that while sitting here on my sofa reading the sporting news I almost peed my pants.

I think we should hire aceshigh as our next asst., as long as he promises not get too excited and have an accident on the bench.
Seriously, Scott S. would be a great addition. In addition to being a great recruiter, he’s supposedly a proponent of hard-nosed defense. Go Aces!!

Comp package for Spinelli at Maryland is estimated to be about $227k per this article about budget cuts causing the school to drop a few sports.

I've been away from the board for a few days due to work - but I'm very happy with these two hires! Much more optimistic having some former players on the staff as they will understand what is required to win at Evansville.
Also I like the two signings as well. Still will likely be a rough year but very relieved we are getting started with the rebuild now instead of enduring another year of whatever you want to call last year.

Marcus and Craig are great hires. Spinelli will not be the third assistant (unfortunately) but there are a lot of other great possibilities out there and I am eagerly awaiting to see who that will be so that we can get this train one step closer to being fully loaded and start to pick up speed in our sustainable rebuild process.

I believe our next assistant coach should be a young person who is possibly just getting into coaching. You could get him at a lower salary plus he can learn from listening to our current coaching staff.

Both Ragland and Wilson are on the same page and will bounce ideas off each other without hesitation. The last thing we need now is an overpowering assistant who thinks he knows more and creates more issues than he solves. As for finding a coach that is relatively new but is quite knowledgeable of the game, I’m sure both Rags and Marcus have a long list of young coaches that could fit the bill.

I guess I am coming from a different angle. I see Marcus and Craig as Asst Coaches #2 and #3 since they have been away from the bench for a few seasons each. I believe Asst Coach #1 needs to come in from a coaching position, have leads on recruits due to actively recruiting, and be a known commodity to recruits. This is Coach Ragland's first head coaching gig, so I think he needs a highly experienced assistant to lean on for a year or two while he gets his feet wet who can also recruit nationally. I would love to see a guy like Scott Spinelli (recently became unemployed) or a Butler assistant join the staff.....

If you have listened to Marcus on ESPN,I believe he is seasoned enough to be good assistant coach. We should know who is #1,#2and #3 after all positions are filled.
