The Jones addition is bigger than it might appear at first. He is from E. St. Louis, so that is a recruiting connection. A really good D1 at Butler, and played D-league for a while, and a younger, high-character guy. He will be REALLY good with the players. The job Rags has done, in building a staff and recruiting a couple of experienced transfers just shows the respect that Rags has in the D1 world. As fans, we will see changes come faster, especially due to the transfer portal. Coach Rags and staff are ready to WORK. That’s not a whack against the previous coaching staff, but rather just gratitude that we now have guys that are not running out the clock, but trying to score. From the comments by Strawbridge’s dad, Marcus helped to tip the balance toward UE. Assistants like Marcus, Craig, and Jones, who have themselves played at a high level, have immediate cred with recruits. Agree that the transfer portal will be crucial. Schools like Evansville will just have to work twice as hard because we will lose some and gain some. Coaches in mid-major conferences will have to adapt to the portal to be successful, adapting means losing kids and replacing them. As long as the current xfer portal rules are in place expect to see significant roster turnover about every year. I think Coach Rags has put together a staff that will adapt and figure out how to maximize the portal.

One advantage to the portal is getting the P5 players riding the bench all season long and looking for playing time w/o sitting out a year.

This reminds me of the story Marcus told on the old UEBB podcast where he texted Walter to congratulate him and he never heard anything back. When he asked him about it, he kind of blew him off and pulled out his phone and pointed to all his unread texts and said he’s “a very busy man”. Marcus, Rags, & staff appear to be the polar opposite of Walter in all the right ways. Glad we’ve got a high character staff that values building relationships now!

Amen. Let’s burn that asshat Walter out of the history of UE athletics. Fame went to his head and he forgot where he came from. Terrible terrible hire by Spencer. Walter was never the sharpest tool in the shed.

Marcus responded to me almost immediately today. That shows you what kind of person he is. We are so fortunate to have him on board.

Roosevelt Jones, ex player from butler and Hart from Harrison will be next coaches named. Hart being player development I'm trying to make heads or tails out of this. Not saying it is incorrect just want some clarity around it. - Which team are you talking? Are we talking for the men's basketball team? I thought we had our coaches already.
- Are you talking Khristian Hart who played on the women's basketball team and was from Harrison high school and graduated in 2015?
- How sure are you on this? Roosevelt Jones is currently an assistant basketball coach at the University of Indianapolis.
Again just trying to get some context around this and some clarity on what you are exactly saying. Thanks. Update: Based on purpleace79 information here is Khristian Hart's brother Kente's coaching bio at Florida Southwestern State. How sure am I? Pretty darn sure.

I would say it's safe to say you aren't Aces Reboot.

Might be slightly off-topic but related to Evansville and both Ziggy and Marcus were posting about Bosse Field. Ziggy took his family to an Otters game last night at Bosse Field and below is a re-tweet from Marcus. I saw a lot of games at Bosse Field as a kid especially in the 70s - great memories with the family.

Aces football played the 1972 season at Bosse Field. End zones near home plate and out in center field. Pitching mound was not a great place on the field.

Why not a barge off of Dress Plaza. Holds equal logic...this idea of Bosse Field takes the cake. Looking @ the schematics, I'm trying to figure out OPTIMUM seats for viewing (if any).
Btw, ISU's Memorial Stadium was initially a BASEBALL facility. Remodeled in '67 when Astroturf was 1st installed on a U.S. college facility (thanks to 3M), the FB field ran from the bleachers 1st to 3rd. Not the best viewing from the middle of the "horseshoe." They ultimately tore down all but the WWI & II Memorial Arch and added the current concrete bleachers. This Stadium had one of the deepest outfields in pro baseball.
See 1935, 1955 & 1948 photos enclosed.
