Not sure what more a new AD could do in two days than what Ziggy has already done. He is a highly personable and intelligent man, with vision and goals. Obviously he embraces and recognizes the need for open and honest communication. Congratulations to UE staff in what appears as a homerun hire.

I finally watched the whole introductory press conference. He had me worried when he thought he was in Bakersfield, but he recovered well and just seems very likeable, approachable and passionate about what he does. He did not once call us Evanston or Evansville University, big plusses in my book. Ha ha, I caught the Bakersfield miscue also. In his defense he said he had very little sleep the night before...which is a good sign that shows his excitement and passion for the job. The only other thing in watching the presser is that I kept wanting to roll up his sleeves because the jacket arms were coming down to his knuckles.

That’s that old saying, “clothes make the man.”
I agree about the suit. Better yet, he could get into an exercise regimen, maybe shed 20 lbs., then buy himself a couple of suits that are tailored to fit….and BYW, this is not meant to be a mean-spirited post.
We have a guy here who seems to have the energy and mentality to become a change-agent for UE. I wish him nothing but the best.

No details on the comp, but this is what the C&P reported:
"While details of Siegfried's UE contract were not released, Spencer's compensation was just over $161,000 in 2020 according to IRS tax reporting forms for the school. According to California public records, Siegfried's base pay at Bakersfield was $192,956."

I believe that it would be insulting to offer him less than he was making in California.

But nothing says that they didn't pay him what he was getting in California. Cost of living calculator for Bakerfield and EvansvilleAccording to the COL calculator $192,956 is the same as making $167,950 in Evansville. So my guess is that they at least matched that COL amount. You would think they might have given him incentives as well to make more.

I agree and I think he will have a sit down with TL and tell him that while he may be a good man the train is leaving the station and that Todd needs to be waving to the passengers and not to those at the station. Todd has to step aside if he really cares about UE as he says and get this ball rolling. If UE needs to come up with money to pay out Todd’s contract then they need to get on the wagon to get it done. As the song goes “Time’s a Wastin” It's not up to Lickliter to say he wants to leave for the betterment of UE. It's up to UE to come up with the money to buy him out. He's not just going to quit and throw 280k down the toilet. If UE can come up with the money he will be gone. If not, say hello to the Aces coach next year, Todd Lickliter. The $ for a buy-out doesn't seem like that much now...

I would think he would deserve a MBB attendance improvement incentive clause just as much as the HC does.

Doesn't the AD get to live rent free in a house owned by UE The President gets a house owned by UE in the really nice fenced in subdivision between Walnut & Lincoln near campus. Not sure on if the AD gets one or not, but Spencer lived in Newburgh, so I don’t think they do.

I am thinking the rest of his family will stay in Bakersfield to finish out the school year. He probably is staying at the UE guest house. Hopefully they decide to buy something near UE so he can be part of the campus life and around for many of the events that boosters attend on campus. (Is Logan's house still available?) Being up in Newburgh would just say...I am not that committed...IMO.

Maybe a way to recruit a coaching staff would be to offer coaches and assistants rent free housing

What if the don’t like the house, the location or maybe the schools available for his children. A housing stipend would be more in order. Then again wouldn’t this be a part of the financial offer?

Back to why would he take a cut in pay.Ziggy would be the person on charge of a AD department. And if he can improve all aspects of the department, he could prove that he csn run a AD department.Which could lead to a better paying job.

Maybe a way to recruit a coaching staff would be to offer coaches and assistants rent free housing Employer provided housing generally discourages applicants, unless the job is in San Francisco or some extremely expensive housing market. With an employer owned home you lose choice, don’t build equity, you may not like the style and decorating, typical landlord issues, etc. Are you suggesting that UE go out and buy a bunch of houses for coaches? Universities often own a president’s home because it functions as a fundraising center as much as a residence and is much larger than what a typical family would need/want.
