This is a really head scratching commitment. He seems like our best recruit (offers wise) and he came out of nowhere. Very weird in my opinion for a kid to be active on social media and not post their own commitment themselves.

So in a time where everything gets told on the internet this somehow slipped through the cracks. Not even as a commit but as a signing, that’s honestly crazy. But welcome Chris, considering the state of this program I don’t think we could ask for a better commit.

Men’s basketball inks three in latest signing class gopurpleaces.com/news/2022/4/13/mens-basketball-mens-basketball-inks-three-in-latest-signing-class.aspx These are some pretty good players that will hopefully help us build for the future. The problem as I see it is they are freshman and we might have to take our lumps a little bit early as other teams will have more veteran players. Too bad Blake didn’t stay. Hopefully we can land a big guy like the 6-10 guy who visited the other day. Maybe the low key approach on recruiting is working (somewhat). We will see.

Keep them coming. We need 5 more, including at least one big, a true point guard, and a couple of forwards who will compete for the MVC floor burn title.

We have our guards in good position except for the point position. I expect to see a portal transfer with experience to fill that spot. That leaves us with a few scholarships to plug in 3-4-5 players. The portal will let us see those play against true college competition and reduce the risk of error recruits. I would think that Phillips, Smith and Hall would be excited about college transfers in giving them the help they need.

Yeah his highlights look pretty good. Surprised we got him. With that being said a lot of kids highlights look good then they bomb in college but I do like his size and athleticism.

Harold has already reached out to make Chris feel "at home."

I liked the commentator as much as the highlights. Chris should be a good pickup.

Thanks for the grid, austinace. I’m happy that we have a couple of New commits, but we’ve got a LOT of work to do to round up a roster of D1 level talent. Of course, there are many programs in a similar boat, ala LSU. However, McMahon will find kids who are SEC-capable, just as he always found a way to restock at Murray.
Reflecting on our roster from last year, it probably made sense to do upgrades on 6 roster spots anyway. We knew we would lose Noah and Evan, and Page and Iyen were marginal. If we could somehow reverse Givance and Newton from the portal, that would have made the recruiting task more manageable. On the other hand, we now have a chance to bring in BETTER players than we lost. Maybe we don’t find a potential Sisley, because he was just coming into his own, and a good “big man”:coach could ultimately have honed him into a terrific 4.
The recruiting harvest will tell us how good Jackson and Crone are as assistants. Their effort will determine whether we are even remotely relevant next season. Logan cast a shadow over both of them, which has now been lifted. I hope like crazy that they can assert themselves on the recruiting trail. We have urgent needs for a rim protector or two, an active, 3/4. and a good point.

This twitter post from a month ago not only lists his stat line from last year but also includes a link to his more recent 2022 Hudl highlights, which by the way shows him hitting threes (which I don't think the other video did) - so you can see the improvement in his game:
