Scary to think about the quality of players Todd will fill the 5 open scholarships with… I hate to say it, but I don’t think we’ve hit rock bottom quite yet

I thought the primary reason for rushing the Lickliter hire was to limit the number of defections. Under his watch in 2 years, we have lost the following impact players early:
DeAndre
Cunliffe
Artur
Samari
Newton
Shamar
I guess this is all part of the "Secret System" he is implementing.

Definitely a huge loss but I honestly can’t say I’m Surprised nor can I blame him or Givance. They gave us a lot and I hope they do well. And I agree if we can’t pull a lot of guys out of the portal this next season could be even worse…sickening. We should be offering people right and left with the number of scholarships we have to fill!!

But he retained Gage Bobe and now has him positioned to be a starter next season! |

Can't say I blame him,but I don't believe he will go to a conference that is rated higher than the MVC.

I bet he does go to a program that is rated higher than UE. Conference ranking is not as important as where the team is at.

I will slice this up a little to say that Newton and Givance aren't exactly 'early' departures and Curtis was just passing through, but to say that the program is a sieve would be sort of kind. Although I can't compare it to other similar programs -- if similar is appropriate -- but I do think this sort of turnover is a part of it now, no matter who comes in to coach or run the department. There are three or four other players who came in and left before they even got their photos on the evening sports report, so it's effectively an entire roster that has been burned in the years just before and after the pandemic season. Those guys probably wouldn't have even been recruited by most Valley teams. I guess I am less sad about your list than I am about the future of the team I hope to watch, knowing that for every good player who comes in, we have to churn through 8 or 9 others. And that may be a yearly ritual. |

Surely this list of good players leaving, the lack of recruiting, the fan base deserting in huge numbers, and most probably the declining financial support from donors SHOULD move the adm. to not retain TL for another season, hopefully not even for another week! What scares me is that the adm. is going to allow all this as an excuse to just disband the entire Div.1 program. Is there anything that we fans can do to force the powers that be to make the necessary changes - starting with the hiring of the type of coach we so desperately need to revive this Purple Aces basketball program? |
